A memorial bench in honour of former town clerk Russell Holden has been unveiled in Truro’s Boscawen Park.
Russell dedicated himself to the improvement of his home city, beginning his career at Truro City Council as a Parks Officer, in which capacity he entered the Britain in Bloom competition on many occasions.
He also served as town clerk from 1999 to 2010, during which time he established the first Business Improvement District (BID) scheme in Cornwall. Upon his retirement became chairman of Totally Truro – the combined forces of Truro and Newham BIDs.
He passed away in March 2023 at the age of 73. The bench was unveiled by Truro City Council’s Parks, Amenities and Facilities Officer, Richard Budge, and Russell's widow, Sandra.
