A Truro company is determined to debunk the myth that Blue Monday is the “most depressing day of the year” by turning it into an opportunity for positivity.

The third Monday in January, Blue Monday was devised in 2005 to promote airline flights at a quiet time of year. Newham-based Agile Communications Agency will use it to launch the Blue Skies Challenge, a free three-day challenge offering professionals the chance to let go of stress, embrace fresh perspectives and start the year with renewed energy and purpose.

Participants will enjoy daily lunchtime sessions with company founder Rachel Foster; exclusive resources to simplify workloads and spark productivity; strategies to share with your team, and a chance to connect with a supportive community of fellow professionals.

A recent report revealed that workplace stress and burnout are at an all-time high, with 91 per cent of PR practitioners experiencing poor mental health in the last year, diagnosed mental health conditions rising to 33 per cent, and 58 per cent of respondents complaining about overwhelming workloads.

The Blue Skies Challenge is a timely reminder that with the right mindset and tools, we can create healthier, happier working environments for ourselves and our teams. “Blue Monday might be a marketing myth, but the stress and pressure we all feel at work are very real,” said Rachel.

“The Blue Skies Challenge is a chance to let go of the overwhelm and start the year with a fresh mindset. Together, we’ll find practical, joyful ways to boost productivity and make workdays feel lighter and brighter – without the toxic positivity we see on social media at this time of year.”

The Blue Skies Challenge has received funding from Cornwall Council’s Growth Hub Grants Programme, which is delivering the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. Sign up via the online academy at agilecomms.agency
