The RSPCA is appealing for information after the body of a dog was discovered in a woodland near Truro.

The discovery was reported to the animal welfare charity on December 12 after the dog’s body was found inside a dog bed that had been wrapped in a black bin liner in woodlands near Chacewater.

RSPCA animal rescue officer Abi Kemp, who is investigating for the charity, said: “The dog is thought to have been a French bulldog or brachycephalic breed dog but because the body had sadly started to decompose, we’ve not been able to establish if the dog was male or female.

“The dog was microchipped but the information was not up to date so we’re keen to find out more about where the dog has come from and how the body came to be hidden in the woodland near Truro.

“We’re now appealing to the public to help us as we investigate what has happened to this poor dog.

“Every act of kindness makes a difference and this includes the public calling us with information to help our investigation. If anyone recognises the description of this dog, or the bed the dog was left in, or saw anything suspicious in the area then we’d urge them to get in touch.”

Information can be reported by calling the RSPCA appeal line on 0300 123 8018, quoting reference 01407949.
