SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SOUTH
Larkhall Athletic 3 Helston Athletic 0
THE Cornishmen fell to a disappointing defeat in Bath on Wednesday night as Larkhall Athletic ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.
The Blues travelled looking to build on a superb injury-time comeback to see off Cribbs on Saturday, but the hosts were good value at Plain Ham.
Larkhall saw striker Max Williams hit the crossbar midway through the half before the hosts saw Callum Chalmers’ effort disallowed for offside.
But they finally went in front two minutes before half-time via Williams, and it got even better before half-time as Jake Hicks fired in a beauty past Kyle Moore.
Disaster struck for Helston as key man Jack Crago was sent off for a poor tackle on Jack Goodall as the Blues went into the break with a mountain to climb.
The second half saw Helston look to mount a response, but despite having their moments, Chalmers grabbed his first goal for the Larks as Helston headed back to the South West sitting ten points outside of the play-off places, albeit with a game in-hand.
The Cornishmen are on their travels again this Saturday when they make the long trip up to Worcestershire to tackle ninth-placed Malvern Town (3pm).
They won 3-0 at leaders Yate Town on Saturday and have recently brought in well-travelled former Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City striker `Ryan Brunt on a deal until the end of the season.
