FALMOUTH Town continued their remarkable resurgence on Saturday as Luke Barner’s 87th minute winner gave them all three points at Bideford.
The diminutive winner sent a goal of the season contender past Michael Searle to send another large away following wild at the Sports Ground.
Mid-table Bideford had taken a deserved 44th minute lead when a deep free-kick into the box was nodded in by Scott Robinson.
Falmouth improved after the restart and midway through the half were level as Rubin Wilson placed a penalty past Searle after Olly Walker was upended in the box.
Just as it looked like it might be a point apiece, Barner curled a magnificent shot into the top corner after cutting in off the right.
Falmouth then defended stoutly to make it six wins on the spin and ensure three points headed back down the A39.
Mousehole’s play-off hopes took a blow as they were beaten 1-0 by title-chasing Exmouth Town at Trungle Parc.
The Seagulls had secured a priceless 2-2 draw at Westbury United seven days earlier, but found the East Devon outfit a tough nut to crack in West Cornwall.
Town won it ten minutes into the second half thanks to in-form frontman Thomas Bath and then defended heroically.
There was plenty of drama at Helston Athletic as the Blues returned to form with a late show against visiting Cribbs.
The Blues looked set to fall to another defeat after falling behind early on, but the introduction of youngster Ollie Redd and new recruit Charlie Elkington paid dividends.
Redd grabbed the equaliser in the first minute of injury-time before the prolific Jack Crago struck three minutes later to send the majority of the 154-strong crowd home happy.
Saturday sees all three sides in action with all hoping to make a push for the play-offs in the coming weeks.
