A VILLAGE litter pick is being held in St Dennis on Saturday, August 24.

The parish council is staging the event between 10am and noon, starting from the ClayTAWC building in Fore Street.

A council spokesperson said: “This is always a well-supported event with local companies, families with children, and councillors and staff attending. All litter pick equipment is supplied together with gloves and hi-viz vests.

“There will be free goody bags and balloons for the children together with a personalised certificate and free freshly-baked pasties and refreshments for everyone else involved.

“Please come along and support us and the village on the day. We look forward to seeing you there.

“For further information, go to the St Dennis Parish Council Facebook page or visit our website at www.stdennisparishcouncil.org.uk.”

Meanwhile, the council is highlighting the problem of cigarette butts left as litter: “Cigarette butts in and around the village, and especially at the bus shelters, are becoming an issue and concerns have been raised over the environmental impact of cigarette butts being left on the ground.

“Posters will be put up highlighting this issue, and how you can resolve it. These will be displayed in the bus shelters.”
