Local historian, photograph collector and Voice reader Barrie Doney has no shortage of pictures and stories from Cornwall’s past, which he shares with Voice Newspaper readers every week.

This week’s photo comes from an event in Bodmin’s past, namely the Bodmin Regatta, an event held in the 1940s and 1950s at Dunmere, near to Bodmin.

Barrie says of this picture: “Bodmin Regatta. Back in the 40's & 50's there was Regatta & Swimming galas at the pool above the weir at Dunmere. It was an opportunity for the young males to show off to the girls and a great day out for a picnic.”
