Local historian, photograph collector and Voice reader Barrie Doney has no shortage of pictures and stories from Cornwall’s past, which he shares with Voice Newspaper readers every week.

This week’s photo comes from the historic Treffry tramway, at Luxulyan.

Barrie says of this picture: “This is a view of The Treffry Tramway. Horse drawn wagons used this line on the Treffry Viaduct back in the 1840's. The viaduct was ten arches and some 650 feet in length, 98 feet in height. The 6 ton granite blocks that supports the tram lines covered a major leat and is now a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The lines have been removed, but a wonderful view of the valley and Newquay branch line can be seen from the top.”
