Local historian, photograph collector and Voice reader Barrie Doney has no shortage of pictures and stories from Cornwall’s past, which he shares with Voice Newspaper readers every week.

This week’s photo comes from Lostwithiel from a time in the past, a view that he says no longer exists. It was taken prior to World War II, being taken from the road in front of Pill Cottages. The view these days is no longer possible to take, with it being impossible to stand in front of the cottages and the view nowadays comprises something different.

Barrie says of this picture: “Here is a view of Lostwithiel that no longer exists, taken well before WWII. It was taken from the road in front of Pill Cottages. It is no longer possible to stand in front of the cottages and the view is of trees and vegetation.”
