September is in full swing and I was pleased to see so many events in town over the weekend from the Killacourt to the Harbour lots going on for locals and visitors alike. Newquay Town Council community grants have opened again this month for local non profit organisations and community groups to apply for grants for projects in Newquay.

There is a full list of criteria on the town council website but this is an opportunity for us to support as a town some brilliant work going on by volunteers and organisations here.

Applications close on September 30 2024 so don’t delay. I was pleased to last week be invited to the Your Wellbeing Services in St Columb Minor to read to the nursery children there. It was a beautiful day and it’s always inspiring to spend time with our towns youngsters. We read a Dr Seuss classic Green eggs and ham which the children loved and I took questions from the assembled group of young citizens. I was joined by my own family, my wife and three children, we all enjoyed our trip to visit Sue and the team who were brilliant hosts.

If you haven’t been please go and check out the café they have there and the farm animals which my daughter was fascinated by. Thank you to the team for inviting me and I look forward to do it again soon.

A huge well done to the over 550 children who signed up to Newquay Library summer reading challenge.

To have so many children signed up and reading across the summer holidays is such a brilliant achievement and great for the children’s development.

I want to personally say a massive thank you to the entire library team who work so hard providing this wonderful free asset for children, families and all residents of Newquay.
