HERITAGE open days will be taking place on the beautiful 101-year-old Thames Sailing Barge, Lady Daphne, this month.
100 years ago, Lady Daphne was an integral part of the china clay trade, carrying clay from Charlestown to the paper mills of Kent. In April 2022 she sailed the same route back to Charlestown, where she is currently moored while undergoing vital restoration.
Entry will be free, although any donation is welcome, and there will be activities for all the family, as well as a chance to explore above and below decks and chat to her owners and members of the crew.
Visitors can wander around the deck and explore the pop up exhibition in the cargo hold below. The bar will be open and there will be special ale and spirits to take away as souvenirs.
The open days are on September 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14 and 15.
