EMERGENCY services were scrambled following reports people were trapped in a sea cave in Newquay on Tuesday night.
Newquay RNLI Lifeboats and Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team attended the incident at East Pentire at 8.30pm.

The lifeboat crew managed to get close enough to talk to the group and confirm that they did not require any assistance.

A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard said: “We were tasked alongside Newquay RNLI Lifeboats to investigate a report via 999 of persons trapped in a cave at East Pentire.
“After locating the persons the lifeboat crew confirmed that they did not require any assistance.
“This was a well meaning false alarm with good intent and the member of public did the right thing in calling 999. If you see someone who you think is in difficulty along the coast, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.”
