A Truro woman has won a housing association’s Christmas competition after entering a cheeky matching pyjamas photograph taken with her loved ones.

Jayne Snape’s family photograph was entered into LiveWest’s festive competition, which asked residents to capture what Christmas meant to them. Each member – including Jayne’s husband, two sons, daughter-in-law and seven-year-old grandson Joel - wears red Christmas pyjamas personalised with names and messages including “Santa...Loves this Grandma”.

The family usually spend every Christmas together and Jayne’s daughter-in-law brings matching pyjamas for them to put on in the early evening to play post-roast games.

Jayne, 59, said: “This photo was taken last year. We all just got ready for bed, then slouched and watched the Christmas films at night.

“The pyjamas have been our Christmas tradition. It started because everybody's stuffed and nobody wants to wear their outfits, and then they think, ‘oh, what can we do?’

“I entered this photo for the competition because it's family, and everything's to do with family for Christmas. To be perfectly honest, we were going to go away this year, but Joel turned around and said, ‘Christmas isn't Christmas without my grandma and grandad’.”

This year, the family will wear matching green Rudolph pyjamas to watch the Gavin and Stacey TV Christmas special. There will also be a Secret Santa exchange with matching wrapping paper, organised by Joel.

“It’s lovely that we’ve won. It spreads a bit of Christmas cheer at Christmas – it’s a time we should all try and just have a laugh and get together.”
