Truro enjoyed a bumper Christmas shopping period according to city-centre business representatives. Figures show that up to Sunday, December 15, the footfall in Cornwall’s capital was up 4.3 per cent against last year, and in the week that included the second free parking day that figure increased to a 9.4 increase on 2023.

Truro BID manager Alun Jones said: “We’ve been pleased with the number of people coming into Truro this year in the run-up to Christmas. We’d like to thank everyone for supporting Truro’s high street by shopping in person.

“We at Truro BID have been delighted to see so many residents and visitors enjoying the festive events and markets, and taking advantage of the free parking days and free travel on the Park and Ride. We urge everyone to continue to support Truro’s shops, eateries, and service businesses in the New Year as much as possible.”
