POLICE are appealing for help to identify the body of a man found on a Newquay beach on Friday (December 13).

Emergency services were called to Great Western beach at 7.30am. The man was confirmed deceased.

Police have not been able to identify the man through initial enquiries. He is described as a white male, likely aged in his forties or fifties, with a long grey hair and a thick beard.

The man was wearing a grey Ellesse t-shirt, blue jeans, and brown boat shoes. It is not believed that he had been in the water for very long.

Detective Constable Simon Murray said: “Very sadly we located the body of a man on the beach this morning and have so far not been able to identify him.

“We, of course, want to locate and inform his next of kin as soon as possible and so we’re urging anyone who might have information which could help us, to please get in touch.

“Anyone who recognises the description of the man is asked to report any possible names to us so that we can follow up with additional enquiries. Please do not post any names on social media but report them to us directly.”
