The Cornish Pirates are next in action this coming Saturday, with an away game in Round 5 of the Championship against Cambridge (KO 3pm).
Both sides have lost three and won one ahead of this 11th versus 10th in the league clash, so there is clearly much for each to play for. The Pirates have visited Cambridge’s Ellgia Fields twice in the past, winning 64-7 in the Premiership Cup early last season and sneaking a narrow 40-33 victory there in January.
For this week the Pirates welcome back several players who have been injured of recent. A fully fit Tom Georgiou will partner Joe Elderkin in the centre, and in the pack flanker Alex Everett and lock Eoin O’Connor are ready again for action.
Other changes from the team that started against Bedford Blues sees scrum half Dan Hiscocks and prop James French given starting roles, along with full-back Iwan Price-Thomas, whose two previous league appearances have been off the bench.
Commenting ahead of Saturday, Cornish Pirates’ joint head coach Gavin Cattle has said: “We will travel knowing fully well that we can’t in any way be complacent and that we need a win.
“Our level of performance last Saturday was a step up from the week before, which was pleasing, despite missing out at the very end.
“Having more bodies in training and up for selection should also prove beneficial, and hopefully on the verge of putting something together our focus now is to stay positive in mind, apply ourselves tactically, and travel to perform.”
