Southern League Division One South – Saturday, November 2

UNFORTUNATELY for the three Cornish outfits in the division, only Mousehole gained any reward on Saturday as they earned a 2-2 draw at strugglers Cinderford Town in Gloucestershire.

Alex Bonthron put the Forest of Dean outfit ahead on 17 minutes, but Ollie Challinor had the Seagulls level just five minutes later.

It took until the 69th minute for Mousehole to complete the turnaround, this time Hayden Turner being the scorer, but Christopher Bell equalised 15 minutes from time.

Mousehole were also beaten 2-1 by visiting Tavistock on Tuesday night despite Tallan Mitchell’s second minute opener.

Helston Athletic were involved in a five-goal thriller at Bemerton Heath Harlequins in Wiltshire.

Helston found themselves behind inside six minutes through Joe Smith, but Tyler Elliott levelled minutes just four minutes later.

Gregory Eastman grabbed Helston’s second on 32 minutes, but Leighton Young Thomas and Smith’s second, which came just two minutes from time, meant the Blues headed home without reward.

Helston had a much more enjoyable on evening as 623 packed into Kellaway Park for the derby with Falmouth Town which the Blues won 2-1.

Aaron Bentley put Helston in front on 47 minutes before Luke Barner equalised on 54 minutes.

But Jacob Smith scored within two minutes, which is how it stayed.

Even at Step Four Falmouth Town boast huge attendances, and the 403 inside Bickland Park on Saturday were treated to a five-goal thriller.

Unfortunately for the F-Troop, it was promotion-chasing Yate Town that headed back to Somerset with all three points.

Kian Thomas had Falmouth ahead on five minutes, but James Byrne levelled matters on 22 minutes.

Luke Barner restored the Cornish side’s advantage on the half hour mark and they held on well into the second half before Will Christopher equalised (64).

Ross Stearn grabbed the winner ten minutes from time.
