Southern League Division One South latest round-up
HELSTON Athletic’s games at the moment are all but guaranteed to generate goals and Saturday’s home clash with Malvern Town was no exception.
They recently drew 5-5 at high-flying Bristol Manor Farm and came into the game off the back of a brilliant 2-1 success at Cribbs in Bristol on Tuesday night, a result achieved by Callum Martindale’s 90th minute winner.
Reece Thomson had put the Cornishmen in front in the first half before Leighton Tuodolo equalised on 69 minutes.
Saturday’s game was even more remarkable.
Goals from Sam Clark and Alex Bell had their Worcestershire visitors 2-0 up inside 26 minutes, but Thomson (42) pulled one back before the break.
Jack Crago (78) and Jacob Smith (80) appeared to have completed a remarkable turnaround for Matt Cusack’s side, but Clark struck twice more (86 and 90) to leave the home side stunned.
Mousehole were also in action twice last week.
The West Cornwall side visited Exmouth Town on Wednesday night, and although home keeper Frankie Phillips pulled off a plethora of top saves, it appeared Hayden Turner’s seventh minute finish was enough.
But the hosts equalised in injury-time through Ethan Slater following a scramble.
However they did respond on Saturday as they beat Bemerton Harlequins 3-2 at home thanks to Ollie Challinor (11), Torin Ntege (68) and Hayden Turner (73).
Falmouth Town collected just a point from their two outings.
Tuesday night saw a cross-Tamar battle as Bideford visited from North Devon.
Archie Reay put the Robins in front after six minutes before Luke Barner drew Town level (44).
The in-form Oscar Massey put Falmouth in front with ten minutes of normal time remaining, but Aaron Taylor equalised on 87 minutes.
Falmouth then visited Bishops Cleeve on Saturday and lost 1-0, the winner coming via Ethan Dunbar on 78 minutes.
