LILLIAN Hammacott believes in shopping locally. So much so, she uses her Camborne loyalty card up to three times a week and has won £50 in the monthly loyalty card draw.

“If we can buy it in Camborne, we do,” said Lillian, who lives in the town. “We believe in shopping locally and supporting local businesses.”

The loyalty card is celebrating its second birthday. Launched by BID Camborne two years ago, the scheme works by encouraging shoppers to collect stamps from participating businesses.

A £2 minimum spend is required and, when 10 stamps are collected on a card, it’s entered in the monthly draw to win prizes of £100, £75 and £50. Individuals can submit as many stamped cards as they wish.

Since being introduced in 2022, 30,000 card transactions have been recorded. More than 100 people now enter the draw each month and there have so far been more than 2500 entrants.

BID Camborne manager Anna Pascoe said: “The loyalty card is well used and makes a difference.

“We’re a close community in Camborne and residents like Lillian are keen to support their local economy as much as possible.

“The card is an extra incentive to shop in the high street and we’re delighted it’s working so well.”

Cards are available in participating Camborne businesses.
