A colourful Truro Pride will march through the city centre with the world’s largest Pride flag on Saturday, August 31.

The world’s largest progress flag will be carried from Victoria Gardens to Lemon Quay to celebrate diversity, individuality and the LGBTQ+ community. The march will take approximately 30 minutes.

The march will begin at Hendra Park and visitors are asked to gather at the start from 11:45am onwards.

At Lemon Quay, from any time after 12.30pm, the Pride march will finish and the Pride celebration begins. Pride’s celebration will feature a performance stage with live entertainment all afternoon and into the evening.

Once again there will be live singers, comedians, dancers and a range of LGBTQ+ supportive acts from across Cornwall and beyond. Drag queens and kings, fabulous cabaret singers and live musicians will be present too. Among the performers are Layla Zee Susan, The Lankie Vagabond, Cherish, Vicki Vivacious, Nathan Stubbings, Shelf Comedy and DJ Sharon Love.

An all day bar is available for those aged 18 and over, plenty of food and drink retailers will be providing refreshments through the day.

Cornwall Pride will also be bringing its range of Pride merchandise for visitors to stock up on flags, pin badges and all things rainbow for the celebration. In addition to this, a range of Cornish-based organisations are represented at Pride and will be happy to chat.

Support groups will also have tents at Pride to reach out and raise awareness of the services they have available. If needing a break, Cornwall Pride are providing a safe quiet space hosted by volunteer event marshals.

The city is set to be a hive of activity as Truro Farmers Market will also be taking place on Lemon Quay. Speaking about last year’s event, a spokesperson for Cornwall Pride said: “One of the things, which made it a great event was the farmer’s market happening at the same time, as there was a great mix of people at the two stages enjoying the full day’s line up of music and entertainment.
