Very short on numbers this week, but trade for those on offer would still look very strong.

A good 558kg Limousin heifer from Messrs T A & A M Wills of St Erme, Truro parted away for 329p/kg, with a 579kg Limousin steer from the same vendor also topping that section at 316p/kg.

Mr S Beale of Porthtowan, Truro thereafter with his 628kg Hereford heifer at 310p/kg, his 692kg Hereford steer at 308p/kg (£2,131) and his final 680kg Hereford steer realised 307p/kg (£2,088).

Many more Prime Cattle are required to satisfy buyer demand and the current strong trade only emphasises this point.

Again less numbers around this week, but the cow trade has really kicked up another gear.

Top on the day to 246p/kg for an 874kg South Devon cow from Messrs M & A Williams of St Agnes, Truro which was followed by a cow-aged Limousin steer from Mr K R Williams of Tehidy, Redruth at 243p/kg.

Messrs M & A Williams again with a South Devon cow, this time at 229p/kg which was tied with an Angus cow from Messrs R J Richards & Sons of Piece, Redruth at the same money.

Messrs Williams in the mix again with yet another good South Devon cow at 226p/kg and a Devon cow from Mr A Taylor of Nancegollan, Helston parted away for 221p/kg.

Limited dairy types to a top of 215p/kg for a 710kg Friesian from Mr C W J Sampson of St Newlyn East, Newquay and a pair of Ayrshire cows from Mr O Bolitho of Penzance realised 188p/kg and 179p/kg respectively.

A single 855kg Devon bull from Mr J R Julyan of Tresillian, Truro also looked well sold at 209p/kg.

A much improved entry on previous weeks and yet again an incredibly keen trade from start to finish.

Setting the tempo was a truly outstanding 22-month-old South Devon steer on behalf of Messrs J R Stephens & Son of Lostwithiel realising £2100, with another pair from the same vendor at £1950.

A run of top class 16-month-old steers from Mr P Roberts of Penzance achieved £1850 for the choice trio of Blues with another trio of Blues at £1800, a pair of Herefords at £1555 and further Blues to £1460.

A trio of 16-month-old Charolais steers from Messrs J & S Trembath of Gurnards Head, St Ives parted away at £1740 and 20-month-old Limousin steers from Mr W E Hosken of Manaccan, Helston and Mr R I P Andrew of Coverack, Helston realised £1675 and £1650 respectively.

Younger steers also saw a phenomenal trade with 15-month-old Charolais to £1550 on behalf of Messrs J & S Trembath followed by pairs of 10-month-old Limousin steers from Mr P I Hodge of Manaccan, Helston at £1500 and £1465, whilst a trio of 10-month-old Angus steers from Devichoys Farm Limited of Perranarworthal, Truro sold at £1430.

A pair of 20-month-old Devon Steers from Mr J R Julyan of Tresillian, Truro looked well sold at £1450.

Heifers selling to £1535 for a grand bunch of five 22-month-old Devons on behalf of Mr K M Wilkin of Mount Hawke, Truro, with Mr Wilkin going on to sell another five at £1470.

Mr P C J Bennetts of Helston sold a 34-month-old Limousin heifer to £1525 followed by 22 month-old heifers from Mr W E Hosken at £1505 for Blues, £1370 for Limousins and £1085 for Angus.

Younger heifers selling to £1180 on behalf of Devichoys Farm Limited, a cracking bunch of six 10-month-old Angus, followed by five 11-month-old Limousins from Mr P I Hodge at £1175, who sold further Limousins to £990, £975 and £970.

Another very strong trade for all calves on offer, with plenty of buyers in attendance.

There were some nice consignments of young just weaned 3 month old stirks from regular vendors selling exceptionally well.

A pair of Simmental x steers flew away to £585 for Messrs A D & J A Bray from St Martin, Helston who also sold a pair of Limousin x steers for £560 with another pair close behind at £550, and going on to sell a pair of Limousin x heifers at £430.

Also, a really nice run of very young stirks from Messrs C J & J E Colwell from Creed, Truro sold well seeing their single British Blue x steer at £560 and their Aberdeen Angus x steer making £505, and their pair of British Blue x heifers at £450 and two more at £445.

Messrs A G Cave from Rame sold two Aberdeen Angus x steers also at 3 month old making £550 and £525 and Messrs P J Grylls & Son from Kenwyn, Truro sold a Hereford x steer for £525 and going on to top the heifer section with their young pair of Hereford x making £505.

The young calves also saw a flying trade to a top of £385 for an Aberdeen Angus x bull sold by Messrs Searle & Son from Penzance also selling another two for £345 each and a further one at £335.

Best of the Hereford x bull calves to £370 for Mr W R Davey from Probus, with other Hereford x bulls to £340 for Messrs R M & C D Rundle from Mevagissey.

Best of the young Limousin x bulls selling for £330 and £325 twice for Sixty Acres Ltd from Zelah, Truro and British Blue x bulls to £298 for Messrs C J & J E Colwell who also sold their best British Blue x heifer for £300.

Topping the heifer section was two Aberdeen Angus x making £305 each for Mr T F Sampson from St Newlyn East, Newquay with plenty of other vendors marketing heifers between £260 to £290.

More Suffolks forward and selling at £147.00 for a pen from Messrs C J & S A Benney of Porkellis, Helston. Next was a pen of fleshy Poll Dorset ewes from Mr R T Lobb of St Ewe, St Austell at £145.50.

Mr Lobb also topped the rams with a well-worked Charollais at £120.00. In the 2T (sheep) a solid trio from Caerhays Farms of Gorran, St Austell topped at £138.00.
