St Ives School students joined their peers across the nation in celebrating a remarkable set of GCSE results last month.
These achievements are particularly noteworthy as they mark only the third set of GCSE exams since the pandemic. Despite facing significant challenges and disruptions over their five years at school, St Ives students displayed great determination, maturity and can be immensely proud of their outstanding accomplishments.
Amidst national concerns about tougher grade boundaries and declining results, St Ives students have not only risen to the occasion but have excelled.
Among the many success stories, standout performers include Joseph, who achieved seven GCSEs at Grade 9, a Grade 8, two at Grade 7 and a Distinction*; Meg, whose results included four GCSEs at Grade 9, three at Grade 8, and two at Grade 7; Anya, whose results included three GCSEs at Grade 9, four at Grade 8, and two at Grade 7; and Isla C, whose results included three GCSEs at Grade 9, and three at Grade 8.
Headteacher Simon Horner praised the students, saying, “We are incredibly proud of this year’s Year 11 cohort. They have been a truly fantastic group of young people to work with, and their achievements are a testament to their resilience and hard work.
“Despite the unprecedented levels of disruption they experienced across 5 years at our school, including long periods of remote learning during Years 7 and 8 they have persevered and fully realised their potential.
“In a national context of declining results, St Ives students have once again shown their exceptional capabilities. On behalf of all the staff, I extend our heartfelt congratulations and look forward to hearing about their continued successes as they move on to Post-16 education."
Deputy headteacher Kate Jones added, “We are so proud of our students’ accomplishments this year. They demonstrated remarkable maturity and determination, serving as outstanding ambassadors for our school.
“With this brilliant set of grades, they are well-positioned for even greater successes in the future. Well done to all!”
