AN under-16 rugby team from Cornwall preparing to take part in an international tournament in France has been boosted by a donation.
The St Austell RFC under-16s have received £300 from Suez recycling and recovery UK.
The money will go towards their participation in the Tournoi De Cornouaille in north west France at Easter.
Coach Will Hancock said: “This donation has made a significant impact on our fundraising and we’re delighted to be supported by local businesses in our community. I know the team will remember their attendance at the tournament for a long time to come.”
Christine Roos, production operations manager at Suez, said: “Our staff at the Bodmin and Pool materials recycling facilities raised the money at the sites through the sale of snacks and drinks.
“We’re really passionate about supporting this local team as it’s not just about rugby, it’s about empowering these young sportsmen to chase their dreams and represent Cornwall on an international stage.”
A Suez spokesperson said: “As part of SUEZ’s commitment to supporting local communities, this donation will assist the team with travel expenses, training equipment and other essential costs associated with their upcoming international tournament.
“The St Austell team has demonstrated incredible talent and teamwork, and this opportunity will not only enhance their skills but also foster camaraderie and sportsmanship among the players.
