A PRIMARY school in St Austell is celebrating its glowing Ofsted report.

Mount Charles School was rated as providing a good quality of education and as outstanding in other areas.

The academy, part of the Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT), received high praise for its commitment to fostering a sense of belonging and building trusting relationships with families.

Headteacher Sarah Simpson said: “We are delighted with the outcome of the Ofsted inspection. The report is a testament to the dedication and passion of our staff, pupils, families and governors.

“It celebrates our continual focus on delivering exceptional, inclusive education and our unwavering commitment to ensuring that every pupil has the opportunity to reach their full potential.”

Dan Morrow, of CELT, praised the academy for the significant impact it is making.

He said: “Mount Charles School is a shining example of the excellence that can be achieved when dedication, passion and commitment are at the heart of everything we do.

“This report highlights the fantastic work being done in the academy and the positive outcomes for the children.”

Ofsted praised the academy’s ambitious, broad and well-structured curriculum, particularly the emphasis on reading as soon as children start in the early years.

The inspectors commended the exemplary behaviour and attitudes of pupils, noting their eagerness to participate in lessons and the polite manner in which they engage with each other and staff.

Mount Charles was also recognised for its strong focus on personal development, supporting pupils to be confident, resilient and independent learners. Inspectors said that the school provides well-planned, high-quality experiences through the curriculum, assemblies and enrichment activities, and as a result, pupils flourish both socially and emotionally.

In addition, the report commended the academy’s highly effective leadership, and its early years provision which ensures children get off to a flying start.
