ST Austell Festival of Children’s Literature 2024 has been hailed as a successful event filled with fun and laughter, empowering tales, superb stories, and a love of reading.
Organisers said the town was buzzing for the festival with locals and visitors from as far away as Scotland who had made the trip especially to see their favourite authors and illustrators in person.
On the first day of the three-day festival, whose director was Simon Pollard, headteacher of Carclaze Primary School, almost 2,500 schoolchildren attended events held in St Austell Library and at schools across the town.
More than 1,500 tickets were sold across the weekend, double the amount sold for the first festival last year.
Venues around the town were used for the festival which featured more than 25 authors and illustrators.
Author AF Steadman praised the organising team and said: ”I’m beyond proud to be the patron of St Austell Festival of Children’s Literature.”
