A popular post office in Newquay is earmarked to re-open in a new location this spring.
The Central Square Post Office is due to open at the Spar in Tower Road on Thursday, May 8 at 1pm, which will provide 84 hours of Post Office service a week.
The relocating branch will be renamed Tower Road Post Office.
Customers were left disappointed when the Central Square Post Office shut in January.
Postmaster Paul Gatheridge stated he decided to close as the business was “no longer viable.”
He said his customers had dwindled due to the many ways people can now send letters and parcels.
The closure followed the main Post Office in East Street being among 115 Crown Post Offices across the country that are under threat of closure.
A Post Office spokesperson said: “Central Square Post Office is to re-open this spring at a new location at SPAR Tower Road.
“This will restore Post Office services to the area after the branch at 3 Fore Street, Newquay, which closed due to the resignation of the postmaster.
“The opening hours will be Monday to Sunday from 8am to 8pm.
“This will provide 84 hours of Post Office service a week making it convenient for customers.
“This is significantly longer than the opening hours previously offered.
“A similar range of products and services will still be available.
“We are keen to re-open the branch as soon as possible and so we have decided to go ahead with our plans.
“The opportunity to give feedback on access into and within the premises will close on March 19.”
