A popular family run tapas restaurant and wine bar in Newquay town centre has closed down.
Toast Wine Bar in Central Square built up a following over the past seven years with its offering of tapas, cocktails and wine.
Owner Lewis Jones announced in October that the venue would shut for the remainder of 2024 to take a “well-earned break, regroup and reassess the business” but it has now closed permanently.
Mr Jones, in a social media post, said: “After almost eight fabulous years Toast Tapas & Wine bar has come to an end.
“We’ve been at this for quite a long time now and for me personally it’s time for a new chapter in my life and I’m moving up country to start a new adventure.
“Myself and my family would like to take the time to thank every single person that came in to our bar over the years and especially to those who were our regulars.
“You guys were the heart of our bar and without you we would have never accomplished what we did, you guys are more than our customers, you are our friends.
“To all of our wonderful staff that worked here over the years I would like to say for the last time a massive heartfelt thank you, we were family at Toast, and I will take away memories away with me that will last a lifetime.
“For those that know us personally we will still be visiting Newquay as much as we can to see friends so if you see us, please come and share with us your memories from Toast over the years.
“Thank you for everything. This place wasn’t just a business for us but something we are hugely proud of, and it is a huge part of our lives that we will cherish forever.”
