Happy New Year and welcome to the start of 2025. I hope that you all had a wonderful festive break and managed to get some down time amongst the business of Christmas and New Year.

Before Christmas I was honoured to attend the Newquay Singers concert at St Michaels Church, though I was unable to stay for the whole evening due to other engagements they really put on a brilliant concert and I thank them for a wonderful evening and hope to be able to see them perform in the near future.

I want to welcome the newest tenant to the Killacourt units, Isla Campbell, who after many years training and working in the fashion industry is offering clothing repairs, alterations and tailoring to extend the life of much loved items as well as offering some unique pieces for sale.

I for one am extremely excited to have this service on offer at our wonderful retail quarter and will be popping in some of my items for repair. If you haven’t been down to the Killacourt retail quarter recently make it your new years resolution we have some brilliant businesses down there and shopping local is so important to our local economy especially during these quieter winter months.

Don’t forget until the end of the month you can recycle your ‘real’ Christmas trees at South Fistral Car park, just off Mount Wise roundabout, to be turned into wood chippings for the beds around Newquay.

Harbour View: Phil Trebilcock

After a wet and windy weekend, cold start to the week, from tomorrow much milder into the weekend. Generally quiet in the harbour. Two gigs have been painted outside, turned over now to do inside. Huge amount of sand now at the top of beach, all big chains covered. This Saturday, Quiz Night. Teams of four, starts 7.30pm.
