PLANS have been submitted to redevelop a residential property in Newquay.
The scheme involves the extension and alteration to 17 Trenance Road containing eight flats to create six apartments.
The proposed scheme includes the replacement of the existing single-storey extension with a three-storey extension.
A spokesperson on behalf of the applicant said: “The applicant seeks full permission for the redevelopment of the property, which currently accommodates a total of eight flats/studios with a total of 9 bedrooms), including works to the original building that fronts Trenance Road, and the replacement of unsympathetic existing rear extensions with a new extension.
“The works would result in a total of six apartments, with these comprising one one-bed apartment, and five two-bed apartments. Eleven bedrooms in total.
“The proposals would include works to enhance and improve the traditional frontage which faces Trenance Road with external alterations that would include a reduction in the size of the front dormer and its detachment from the dormer belonging to the adjacent property.
“The removal of the two-storey flat roofed extension which currently extends from the roof plane would result in the original pitch of the roof being revealed, and a rear dormer to be positioned in line with the reduced front dormer.
“The proposed development would comprise sustainable development within the built-up area of Newquay that utilises previously developed land and buildings.
“The proposed works would improve the internal accommodation which has been formed though extensions and adaptations to the existing building and would enhance the aesthetics of the property through the replacement of unsympathetic extensions which detract from the building and wider setting.
“The proposed development of the site would result in sustainable development.
“In respect of visual impact, the proposed development has sought to retain, improve and enhance the character and appearance of the original historic part of the property.”
