FOR the first time in the history of the Poltair School Leavers’ Prom, the big event was held away from St Austell.
During the course of the last three decades, the prom has been held at various venues in the St Austell area, including the Cornwall Coliseum, the Cliff Head Hotel, the Porth Avallen Hotel, Knightor Winery and, most recently, the Carlyon Bay Golf Club.
This year, pupils from the St Austell school travelled to the Alverton Hotel in Truro for the prom.
Prestige cars, around 70 motorbikes and an articulated lorry accompanied various students on the journey to Truro.
A school spokesperson said: “The hotel provided a stunning setting for what was a fantastic evening. The school’s proud staff were there, along with proud parents and other relatives, to watch the grand arrivals and, as always, the students didn’t disappoint - they all looked spectacular in their outfits.”
