YEAR 11 pupils at Penrice Academy in St Austell have enjoyed their prom at a hotel in Newquay.

The pupils, who have been taking their GCSEs, travelling north for the celebration at the Atlantic Hotel.

Marie Thomas, the assistant head of Year 11 at Penrice Academy and the organiser of the ball, said: “The sun shone brightly on the class of 2024 at the Atlantic Hotel. We saw the arrival of our esteemed guests in an array of weird and wonderful vehicles – and our first arrival on horseback.

“With the amazing backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean, parents and guardians enjoyed the spectacular first ballroom dance of the evening, the St Bernard's Waltz.

“It was a fantastic opportunity for students and staff to come together to celebrate our class of 2024's successful journey through Penrice Academy.

“We wish them all the very best for the next chapter in their journey.”
