Chefs Paul Ainsworth and Charlotte Vincent have signed up for Truro Food Festival from September 25 to 29. They join Jude Kereama, Charlie Waters and Kate Attlee in the Chef’s Theatre - the centrepiece of the five-day food extravaganza on Lemon Quay.
Saturday Kitchen fans will be delighted to see Michelin-starred Padstow restaurateur Paul in the flesh on Saturday, September 28. He’ll be showcasing recipes and signing copies of his latest cookbook, For the Love of Food.
“I was buzzing to hear that Truro Food Festival was returning, and to be asked to take part alongside so many great chefs,” said Paul. “I hope people will be inspired to stock up with local goodies and get cooking at home.”
Army-trained Charlotte Vincent worked with Michelin starred Michael Caines before appearing on Great British Menu in 2022 and 2023. She now works at Dartington Hall in Devon, and will be focusing on seasonal local produce in dishes which demonstrate her signature flair and attention to detail.
The festival is set to draw thousands of visitors into the city on the cusp of autumn. Other familiar faces include Ugo Massabo of The Cornish Italian, Adam Kesakoff of The Aussie Smoker, and Ben Quinn of Canteen Cornwall.
Keen foodies will be in their element, with fish-filleting demos, fermentation workshops, wine-pairing masterclasses and opportunities to watch patisserie experts and cake artists at work.
The next generation of culinary talent will get their turn too, with Truro Nourish Hub offering school workshops, and both Truro and Penwith College and Truro School Cookery demonstrating the skills of their tutors and students.
The Producer’s Village will feature around 60 artisan sellers ready to help you replicate recipes at home, and the Street Food Court will keep festivalgoers fuelled throughout their visit, with liquid refreshment courtesy of the Skinner’s Festival Bar.
There’ll be live music from the likes of all-female sea shanty group Femmes de la Mer, and family-friendly entertainment and activities to guarantee a great day out for all ages.
While Lemon Quay will be the epicentre of the event, the organisers are promoting city-wide involvement, including after-party events taking place at Skinner’s Tap Yard.
Wednesday and Thursday will see a street market on Boscawen Street featuring regular Truro Farmers Market traders and the artisan makers of Cornwall Shop Small, and other independent city businesses will special offers and events.
Truro Food Festival is hosted by Truro Farmers Market and Cornwall Event Cabins and organised by the team behind The BIG Christmas Market with the support of Visit Truro and sponsorship from GWR, Cornish Sea Salt, Truro and Penwith College, Dales and Skinner’s Brewery.
