The 1907 Hele Organ at St Ia’s Church, St Ives, will feature in two lunchtime recitals as part of the town’s Arts and Music Festival.

The first of these will be on Wednesday, September 18 at 13:15, and will be given by Jeffrey Williams, the Director of Music at St Ia. Jeffrery’s programme will demonstrate the versatility of the instrument in a range of pieces works covering the 17th to 20th centuries.  

On the following Wednesday, September 25, Andrew Wyatt, the assistant director of Music at Truro Cathedral will play for the first time at St Ia, and will perform a programme of popular works that will include pieces by Parry, Elgar and Vierne.  

Entry to both recitals is free but with a retiring collection for the St Ia Organ Fund. The church is seeking to raise a further £15,000 in order to be able to commission a major programme of cleaning and overhaul of what is acknowledged as one of the finest church organs in the county.
