AS mayor this week I have been working closely with the team at the town council to put the finishing touches to our annual Christmas light switch on.
This year we will be holding the whole event on the Killacourt which will ensure a focused and safe Christmas extravaganza for all the family. Save the date Friday 29th November from 3pm.
I was please this week, working alongside my fellow councillors make adjustments to our annual budget that will see the town council very much living within its means.
It shows the work that this council has undertaken to fix the financials.
They have clearly worked and by maximising the assets for the benefit of the town we can chart a bright sustainable course forward.
The weekend a number of the town councillors and I will be holding a beach clean at Towan beach from 2pm. The Newquay Green team have in the past worked closely with Surfers Against Sewage protesting, highlighting and holding to account those at South West Water over the issues their network causes to the wonderful ocean resource Newquay has.
So, this Saturday come down meet the team have a chat and help us clear the beach of litter. We have supplies of bags and litter pickers to aid, though feel free to bring your own. It will be a great community event, and I hope to see some of you there. Following the litter pick our friends at Newquay Merpod are holding a festive grotto in aid of the Newquay Marine Group, at the Harbour.
Why not pop along there with the kids after it’s £5 per child and runs from 2pm to 5pm.
I will certainly be popping along with my family to meet the real-life mermaids for this festive treat.
Phil Trebilcock: Harbour View
Well, after three weeks of quiet weather, all change now.
There will be wind, rain, and it will be getting much colder from today.
There are still a few boats for sale. A new small one has arrived in the harbour, but fishing is generally quiet.
A couple of gigs are being painted and are undergoing maintenance.
The harbour car park is free from 4 pm until 9am now.
There will be no band this Saturday, but Sunday from 3pm there will be the CHSW charity auction, which will include entertainment and excellent prizes. All welcome. Thought for the week: “Investment in knowledge will earn good interest “
