A key part of the town’s Christmas celebrations for more than ten years, Camborne’s Children’s Lantern Parade will take place on Friday, November 29 as part of a collaborative ‘Christmas Lights Switch-On Day’ delivered by Camborne Town Council and BID Camborne.
This much anticipated event is a combination of the town’s light switch-on, lantern parade and Christmas tree festival will bring the whole town together to celebrate Christmas with light, music and a whole lot of fun for all the family.
The day will start with the Christmas Produce Market in the town square from 9am-2pm. There will be live music in the square from 3.30pm onwards and some street theatre with the Winter King and Queen from 4.30pm before town comes alive with twinkling lanterns and lights.
Before the lights are switched on at 6.30pm, the lantern parade will start when it leaves from St Meriadoc Infant School in Rectory Road at 5.45pm.
The procession then goes along Church Street, turns left into Commercial Street and continues down Trelowarren Street before turning into Union Street and then into Cross Street to end outside the junction of Cross Street, Commercial Street and Basset Road.
A local child nominated by one of this month’s winners of the Camborne Town Loyalty Card draw will have the honour of pushing the button and lighting up the decorated tree and streets after the parade.
