NEW plans have been launched to help businesses benefit from the Boardmasters Festival.

Newquay BID has been working with organisers Vision Nine to create an improved Boardies app to encourage festivalgoers to support local businesses when they are in town.

Boardmasters is giving local businesses the chance to be featured in a promotion as part of their Newquay Business Spotlight initiative, which will showcase local businesses and the special offers they have running during festival week.

Each local business planning to run a promotion during the festival will have the opportunity to apply.

Successful applicants will be featured on digital platforms including Boardmasters Festival app, which had 59,000 users in 2024.

They will also feature on Boardmasters website, social channels, newsletter as well as Newquay BID social channels and newsletter.

Businesses will receive posters to hang in their shop highlighting their involvement in the initiative.

The partnership follows businesses raising concerns they do not gain and even lose out due to the tens of thousands of visitors that descend on the town to visit the five-day music and surf festival.

Newquay BID manager Mark Warren said: “We have been working with Boardmasters to support driving footfall into our Newquay business during the event , please see below some below the launch of a new improved Boardie’s app

“As part of the wider commitments from Boardmasters to the local community in Newquay, festivalgoers are encouraged to visit and support local businesses whilst they’re in town.

“Camping festivalgoers at Boardmasters are predominantly aged 16 to 21.

“Their Interests include; music, adventure, socialising, getting outdoors, live events and social media.

“Suitable ideas may include things like a pasty and soft drink lunch combo, surfboard hire discounts with a Boardmasters wristband, activities and experiences plus much more.

“Think outside the box.”

Applications close Wednesday, April 30.
