A NEW nautical themed £178,000 play park being built in Newquay is starting to look ship-shape.
A Pinta play ship has been installed at Trenance Play Park along with a zipline, swings and a slide.

The design includes a new junior and toddler area, which would include the play ship, an integrated carousel, a swinging play zone with two toddler seats and two flat seats.
There will also be a stand-up seesaw, a Mary toddler play ship, a slide, whale climbing unit, dolphin play panel, an underwater diver play panel as well as accessible picnic benches.

The upgraded play park will also include an all-weather surface as the area suffers from drainage issues.
The play facility was awarded £100,000 of investment from Cornwall Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy Fund and some other funds from the unitary authority.

Funds were applied for to upgrade the play park next to the Heron Tennis Centre following concerns the facility was falling into disrepair.

The new play park is earmarked to open in time for the start of the Easter holidays.
