The mayor has chosen a holiday park in Newquay as the first recipient of a new award he has established to recognise businesses for their outstanding work.

Mayor Cllr Drew Creek presented Newquay Holiday Park with the ‘Mayor’s Award for Excellence in Tourism’ for the service it offers holidaymakers.

Cllr Creek said: “One of the wonderful privileges of being mayor of Newquay is that you get to engage with local businesses and organisations doing good work.

“I decided that as mayor I would recognise some of this brilliant work with ‘awards of excellence’. These awards will cover different areas of life in Newquay.

“I gave my inaugural Mayors Award of Excellence to Newquay Holiday Park for Excellence in Tourism. Having recently spent some time at this site, my family and I got to witness first-hand the brilliant work the team do to deliver wonderful affordable holidays in Newquay with outstanding facilities and entertainment.

“Tourism is such an important part of Newquay’s economy and ensuring high quality affordable accommodation is key to this.

“If visitors to our town have great experiences at parks such as Newquay Holiday Park they will become repeat visitors. My family and I stayed for several weeks whilst between houses and we were all blown away with just how high quality the entertainment was even out of season.

“From Tracey, Steve and their team on Reception delivering welcoming smiles and useful local information to the entertainment team led by Zoe delivering exceptionally high-quality entertainment every night aided by her team Molly, Gregory, Emily, Sammi, Bree and Nicole, the whole experience truly delivers excellence’.

“Well done to all the team at Newquay Holiday Park. Watch this space for the next ‘Mayors Award of Excellence.”
