THE Louis & Ella Music Show will be visiting the Lane Theatre in Newquay on Sunday, April 27.
They perform the songs duets recorded by Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald with the Oscar Peterson Quartet, along with a huge repertoire of songs both recorded and performed solo and with other ensembles.
The set is packed with songs from the Great American Songbook from George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Rodgers & Hart, Cole Porter. Plus they perform some their own original songs, very much in the style of Louis and Ella.
The band is made up of Sarah Meek (Vocals), Dave Cottle (Piano, Trumpet & Vocals), Alun Vaughan/Laurence Cottle/Cameron Saint (Bass), Paul Smith/Tom Cottle/Euan Crawford-Mckee (Drums)
Dave Cottle is a vastly experienced professional musician with a wealth of musical experience. Since 1995, Dave has been the resident house pianist at Swansea Jazz Club.
He has accompanied 100’s of Jazz artists from all over the world and is adept at playing many different styles of music. Dave also founded the Swansea International Jazz Festival in 2014.
As a session musician he has worked with countless theatre and touring shows and his own dance band DC Party & Dance Band has played at 1000's of functions, dinners and weddings.
The Louis & Ella shows gives Dave an opportunity to showcase his mastery of playing trumpet and piano at the same time.
Since her graduation from Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with a Masters Degree in Jazz Vocals, Sarah Meek has firmly established herself as a fine jazz and session vocalist with an engaging stage presence and personality. Sarah also plays piano and guitar and is Musical Director of the Accordia Choir based in Cardiff
The Show is always performed with great humour and engagement with the audience.
