EMERGENCY services coaxed a vulnerable woman away from a cliff edge in Newquay on Wednesday night (January 22).

Police, Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team and the ambulance service attended the incident at the Barrowfields at 8.50pm.

A police spokesperson said: “Police were called following concern for the welfare of a female near to the cliff edge in the Newquay area.

“Officers attended and the incident was resolved safely.

“The woman was left in the care of mental health professionals.”

A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard added: “After administering care the team were stood down once the casualty was transported on for further medical attention.

“If you see someone in difficulty along the coast, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.”
