EMERGENCY services were called out to an incident on Porth Beach in Newquay last night (Wednesday, April 16).
Police, RNLI lifeguards and Newquay Coastguard Search and Rescue Team carried out searches in the area to locate a female. A rescue helicopter was also scrambled to assist with the search.
The female was eventually found on land after an extensive land and sea search in the Porth Beach area.
A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team said: “Last night, we were tasked alongside Newquay RNLI Lifeboats and HM Coastguard Padstow to assist Devon and Cornwall Police and South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust with an incident in the Porth Beach area.

“Newquay Coastguard Rescue Helicopter R924 was also tasked to assist.
“Thank you to staff at The Mermaid Inn - The Pub on the Beach and members of the public for all their assistance last night.
“If you see someone in difficulty along the coast, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.”
