SEX OFFENCES
NELSON CROCKER, 26, of Penmare Terrace, Hayle was found guilty at Truro Crown Court of 28 sexual offences against children including raping a boy and a girl under 13 in St Austell and Torpoint. He had denied the offences. He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on 27 February.
SAM BOWDREY, 32, of St Dominic Close, Bodmin pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to falsely imprisoning a woman, raping, assaulting and strangling her. His trial was fixed for 26 November and he was released on conditional bail not to contact his alleged victim.
DAVID SMITH, 71, of Windsor House, Castle Street, Bodmin pleaded guilty to possessing and making over 250 indecent images of children – stills and moving – including the most serious category A. He was sentenced to 16 months in prison, suspended for two years, and made subject to a sexual harm prevention order for ten years limiting his use of the internet.
STEPHEN BROWN, 64, of Brook Villa, Helston has pleaded not guilty to six sex offences including indecently assaulting a girl aged under 16 in Rame. His case was adjourned until 24 March.
ASSAULT
STEVEN CHANNON, 33, of The Copse, St Austell pleaded guilty to assaulting a man at St Austell on 26 January. His case was adjourned until 18 February.
MATTHEW WICKETT, 34, of Mythe View, Atherstone pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman and criminal damage to a house in St Austell between 31 March and 11 April and criminal damage to a house in St Austell on 18 and 19 May. He was ordered to pay his victim £500 compensation, fined £692 and made subject to a restraining order not to contact his victim or go to a road in St Austell.
PAUL ROWE, 27, of Tregonissey Road, St Austell and LUKE COLEY, 36, of Tremayne Road, St Austell both pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to threatening violence towards another but not guilty to assaulting a man and a woman occasioning them actual bodily harm at St Austell in July 2022. ROWE was sentenced to 18 months in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered to pay £1,000 compensation and COLEY was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered to pay £2,000 compensation and do 180 hours unpaid work. The assault cases will remain on file.
JOSH COOPER, 32, of Trevarthian Road, St Austell pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman on High Cross Street, St Austell on 23 January and to using threatening behaviour towards two men at Boscawen Street, Truro on 11 January. He will be sentenced on 28 February and was released on conditional bail not to contact his victim or go to Launceston or Truro.
ADAM WALKER, 29, of NFA, St Austell pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to strangling a woman in Redruth last September and assaulting her in Newquay last October. He was sentenced to prison for two years, suspended for two years, ordered to abstain from alcohol until 23 May and must have mental health treatment. He had pleaded not guilty to falsely imprisoning and assaulting the woman on other occasions – these counts will remain on file.
GERALD VENNER, 38, of Albert Road, St Austell, who has pleaded not guilty to assaulting a woman in St Austell on 23 November and on 3 December, broke bail conditions imposed by the crown court on 7 January by contacting his alleged victim and going to an address in St Austell on 9 January. He was arrested and remanded in custody. His case is listed for 19 May.
IAN MARNOCH, 56, of Parklands, Nanpean pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to threatening unlawful violence at Hayle in September 2023 but not guilty to strangling a woman and criminal damage. He will be sentenced on 27 February.
TANUJA WIGNESWARAN, 51, of Tanyas at Fourwinds, Bodmin pleaded not guilty to assaulting a man at Penlan Garage, Bodmin on 5 July. She had the case proved that she broke her bail conditions by entering the petrol station on 26 January – a charge she had denied.
ELISHA HART, 28, of Higher Bore Street, Bodmin pleaded guilty to assaulting a man at Camborne on 28 January and breaching a criminal behaviour order by being drunk in a public place, engaging in behaviour which may cause people to fear for their safety and remained in a commercial premises after being asked to leave. She was sent to prison for 12 weeks because it was an unprovoked attack of a serious nature and she has a flagrant disregard for court orders. She has to pay her victim £60 compensation
SAM COOK, 44, of Eastern Avenue, Liskeard has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with strangling a woman and assaulting her occasioning actual bodily harm at Pensilva on 28 January. He was remanded in custody and his case listed for 4 March.
PETER WOOTTON, 54, of Fairfield, St Germans pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer at Fairfield, St Germans on 18 December. He will be sentenced on 14 March.
LEE RAYNER, 45, of Church View, St Stephens pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a woman and criminal damage in Saltash on 8 December, to engaging in coercive behaviour and threatening a woman with a Zombie knife on 26 October. His trial was fixed for 3 November and he was released on conditional bail.
COERCIVE BEHAVIOUR
JAMES LOBB, 50, of Parkengear Vean, Probus pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to engaging in coercive behaviour towards a woman in St Austell by repeated violence, taking her phone away and abusing her. He was remanded in custody and his trial fixed for 19 June.
RACIALLY AGGRAVATED HARASSMENT
SOPHIE SCOLES, 28, of Sandy Lodge Hotel, Newquay pleaded guilty to using racially aggravated threatening behaviour in Plymouth on 3 October and causing a disturbance at Derriford Hospital. She will be sentenced on 14 February.
ARSON
SHAUN MCCORMICK, 54, of NFA, Newquay pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to strangling a woman at St Erme between 15 September and 31 October and between 1 May and 30 June, assaulting her occasioning her actual bodily harm on 28 November, criminal damage to two vehicles and a caravan on 30 November, arson on 29 December when he destroyed a caravan by fire, intimidating a witness involved in court proceedings on 28 December and sending a message threatening to rape and harm a woman on 27 December. He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on 28 February.
OFFENSIVE WEAPON
MARK BENNEY, 52, of Blowing House Close, St Austell pleaded not guilty to possessing a Katana Sword at Blowing House Close on 23 November. His case was adjourned until 18 June.
DRUGS OFFENCES
PETAR BARAKOV, 24, of NFA, Newquay pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to possessing cocaine with intent to supply at Cliff Road, Newquay on 17 October. He was sent to prison for two years. A charge of intending to pervert the course of justice by providing false details will remain on file.
WILLIAM TONKIN, 34, of Trevose Avenue, Newquay pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis at Park Gwyn, St Stephen last October. He was fined £80 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
JOSIE TRESCOWTHICK, 32, of Barras Street, Liskeard pleaded guilty to possessing 1.05 grammes of crack cocaine in Camborne on 27 January. She was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs.
CONVERT CRIMINAL PROPERTY
KIRSTY KNOWLES, 38, of Tremewan, Trewoon has pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to four charges of, with Peter Dingle, converting criminal property, namely credit balances totalling £4,200 in the name of a woman in 2020. Her trial was fixed for 1 October.
THREATENING BEHAVIOUR
JONATHAN TILLEY, 30, of NFA, pleaded not guilty to using threatening behaviour at Morrisons in Liskeard on 19 December and not guilty to breaching a community protection notice by engaging in behaviour that may cause the public serious nuisance or distress. His case was adjourned until 18 February.
BREACH OF ORDER
MICHAEL RICHARDS, 47, of Treningle View, Bodmin has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with breaching a criminal behaviour order at Bodmin on 24 January making someone fear for their safety when he refused to leave an establishment and loitered outside the establishment. His case is listed for 28 February.
DARREN CHURCH, 50, of Boxwell Park, Bodmin pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a community protection notice by attending an address in Pool Street, Bodmin on 23 January. He was made subject to a two-year criminal behaviour order not to enter addresses in Pool Street, An Gof Gardens, Gilbert Road and Rock Lane, Bodmin and fined £40.
DRUNK
WILLIAM WATTS, 30, of Bodmin Road, St Austell was found guilty of being drunk and disorderly at Par train station on 4 October.
DRINK/DRUG DRIVE
ADAM DOWNIE, 45, of Gustory Road, Crantock pleaded not guilty to driving in Crantock on 18 April when he was over the limit for driving with BZE and cocaine.
DARREN MCKIE, 43, of Riverside Park, Minorca Lane, Bugle has had a warrant for his arrest issued after he failed to turn up to court to answer a drug drive charge.
CARL SKINNER, 36, of Pine Lodge Gardens, St Austell failed to turn up to court to face a charge of driving a van on Holmbush Road, St Austell last June with 214 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood exceeding the limit of 80. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
MARTIN DAVIS, 54, of Dominics Close, Bodmin pleaded guilty to driving on the A30 at Temple, Bodmin on 8 June with 22 micrograms of cocaine per litre of blood exceeding the limit of ten, using a Mercedes A150 with a dangerous tyre, showing a light other than red to the rear and driving without insurance. Davis also pleaded guilty to stealing £179.50 of items from Boots in Bodmin on 10 December and £282 worth of items on 16 November as well as possessing 0.415 grams of cannabis on Higher Bore Street, Bodmin on 25 January. He will be sentenced on 20 February and was given an interim driving ban.
HUGO SANTA, 42, of White Horse Street, Bodmin pleaded guilty to possessing a kitchen knife at Newquay police station and failing to provide a specimen of breath last October, driving on Castle Street, Bodmin last June with 4.2 micrograms of cannabis exceeding the limit of two last June and to driving without a licence, insurance or MOT. He was given a six-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, ordered to do 200 hours unpaid work and banned from driving for two years.
BRADLEY HOSKING, 26, of Culverland Park, Liskeard pleaded guilty to driving on Pengover Road, Liskeard on 22 December with 59 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. He was banned from driving for 16 months, which will be reduced by 16 weeks if he completes a course, fined £600 and ordered to pay a £240 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
DRIVING WITHOUT CARE
BILLY YOUNG, 25, of Crantock Street, Newquay pleaded guilty to driving an Audi A3 without due care and attention on Tregunnel Hill, Newquay, failing to stop for a police officer on Edgecombe Avenue on 19 December and failing to provide a specimen for analysis on 20 December. He will be sentenced on 28 February.
SPEEDING
CHANG LI, 59, of Woodland Lodge, Cuddra, St Austell who had pleaded not guilty to speeding on Tregolls Road, Truro in September 2023 and not guilty to failing to tell police who was driving a BMW X3 has had both charges dismissed after the prosecution offered no evidence.
