CARE WORKER NEGLECT

DANIELLE HANMER, 36, of Sunrising, Looe has been sent to Truro Crown Court for trial after she pleaded not guilty to being a care worker who ill-treated/wilfully neglected a woman on 5 June 2023 at Liskeard. Her trial is fixed for 7 July.

ARSON

MARINA WILDISH, 44, of NFA, St Austell pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to a charge of arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered after she is alleged to have committed arson at 53 College Green, St Austell, which is owned by LiveWest Housing, intending to destroy or damage the property on 29 November. She was remanded in custody and the case adjourned until 15 May.

RAPE

MARK OVERSBY, 34, of NFA, St Austell pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to raping a woman in Wadebridge on 27 November. He was remanded in custody and his case adjourned until 27 May.

HARRY HARRIS, 23, of Bobs Road, St Blazey has been sent to prison for three years and nine months after he pleaded guilty to raping a woman in St Blazey in 2021. He was made subject to a restraining order not to contact his victim until 2030.

ASSAULT

GERALD VENNER, 38, of Albert Road, St Austell pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a woman occasioning her actual bodily harm at St Austell on 3 December and on 23 November. His trial was fixed for 8 October and he was released on conditional bail.

NICK ALEXANDER, 57, of Hall Barton Farm, Pelynt pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman at a farm in Tregurrian, Newquay on 1 March occasioning her actual bodily harm. He will be sentenced at Truro Crown Court on 17 January.

STRANGULATION

CONNOR MCCONNELL, 32, of Royffe Way, Bodmin pleaded not guilty to intentionally strangling a woman in Bodmin on 18 November. He was remanded in custody and his case will be in Truro Crown Court on 15 May.

STALKING

NATHAN GRIBBLE, 47, of Martinvale Avenue, Mount Ambrose pleaded guilty to stalking a woman without fear between July and October 2024 at St Austell and Newquay. He was given a four-month prison sentence suspended for two years and made subject to a restraining order not to contact his victim or her children and was banned from entering five roads in St Austell and a property in the town centre until January 2030.

AGGRAVATED VEHICLE TAKING

LOUIS LOVERIDGE, 38, of Rosevear Road, Bugle pleaded guilty to between 13 and 16 May at St Austell taking an Audi without the consent of the owner, driving it dangerously and whilst disqualified and damaging it by being in an accident involving a lorry, walls, a garage roof and drainage pipes and failing to stop after the accident. He was given an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, ordered to do 250 hours unpaid work and banned from driving for three years when he must pass an extended test.

DRUG OFFENCES

SIMON WILLIAMS, 39, of NFA, Liskeard pleaded not guilty to possessing cocaine in Quay Street, Lostwithiel last August. He will stand trial at Truro Crown Court on 9 June.

GORDON ASTBURY, 56, of Trelawny Avenue, St Ives pleaded not guilty to supplying heroin in Launceston in March 2020 and guilty to possessing cocaine. His trial at Truro Crown Court was fixed for 22 September.

ANDREW BIDMEAD, 49, of Trenoweth Estate, North Country pleaded guilty to supplying heroin in Launceston in March 2020. His case was adjourned until 23 September when he will be sentenced at Truro Crown Court.

INDECENT IMAGES

BRIAN O’SULLIVAN, 38, of Gwithian Road, St Austell who had pleaded not guilty to making ten indecent images of a child has had his case discharged.

RACIAL HARASSMENT

MICHAL MULARCZYK, 42, of NFA, Newquay pleaded guilty to between 3 May and 6 June 2022 at Perranporth pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to the harassment of a man at an Indian restaurant when he refused to vacate his room and leave the premises when his employment was terminated due to his unsatisfactory performance, he then sent messages of a threatening and offensive nature and attended the restaurant despite being removed from the location by the police and these offences were racially aggravated. He was given a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, ordered to pay £200 compensation, a £154 victim surcharge and was made subject to a restraining order not to contact his victim or attend the Indian restaurant until July 2025.

CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY

ROBERT MORSE, 56, of New Molinnis, Bugle pleaded guilty to causing serious injury to a man by driving a Range Rover Sport in St Austell in September 2023 without due care and attention, to failing to stop after the accident or report it despite a person having multiple serious injuries and to driving without a licence. He was given a six-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, ordered to do 300 hours unpaid work, banned from driving for two years when he will have to do an extended test and ordered to pay a £154 victim surcharge and £1630 costs.

DRUG DRIVE

SIMON PIVETTI, 35, of Alseveor Close, Carluddon was found not guilty of driving on West Carclaze Green Village on New Year’s Day last year with 222 micrograms of BZE per litre of blood exceeding the limit of 50. He pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine.

DRIVING WHILST DISQUALIFIED

AMELIA HATTON, 31, of Bodwannick View, Bodmin pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified at Tregonetha last July. She was banned from driving for six months, fined £450 and ordered to pay £135 costs.

SPEEDING

STOIL MANCHEV, 44, of Minorca Lane, Bugle pleaded guilty to speeding on the A30 at Roseworthy last March. He was given a six months points disqualification, fined £133 and ordered to pay a £53 victim surcharge and £90 costs.
