COERCIVE BEHAVIOUR

DAVID MICHAEL, 34, of Alexandra Road, St Austell has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with engaging in coercive behaviour. He is alleged to have controlled the amount of time his victim could spend on her phone, monitored her communications, prevented her from contacting friends and family whilst he allegedly contacted them and made false allegations causing a breakdown in relationships and prevented her from taking prescribed medication. He was remanded in custody and his case will be heard on 18 February. He pleaded guilty to possessing a quantity of Clonazepam Auden, a controlled drug and was fined £60 and ordered to pay a £16 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

ASSAULT

ROBERT CHICK, 63, of Castle Avenue, Penarth pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to strangling and assaulting a woman in Newquay in December 2023. The case was adjourned and he was released on conditional bail not to contact his alleged victim.

DREW BUSTA EDWARDS, 28, of North Way, Huddersfield pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a woman by beating her in Newquay on 16 November and 7 December, assaulting her causing actual bodily harm on 6 December, strangling her on at least three occasions between 15 November and 8 December, threatening her with a butter knife on 7 December and suffocating her on 16 November and 7 December. He pleaded guilty to damaging her front door on 7 December. He was remanded in custody and the case adjourned until 14 May.

ROBIN FULLER AKA HARRIS, 45, of NFA, Newquay pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a woman in Truro on 11 August. He was given a two-month prison sentence. A charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent was discharged.

KEVIN ROWE, 36, of Trenance Road, Newquay pleaded not guilty to assaulting a woman at the Regal Hotel, Camborne on 18 and 24 November and not guilty to damaging a window at the hotel on 24 November. His case was adjourned until 16 June at Bodmin Magistrates’ Court.

IAN MARNOCH, 56, of Parklands, Nanpean pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to strangling a woman in Hayle in September 2023 and damaging property in her home. The case was adjourned until 24 January.

PATRICK LAMBOURNE, 24, of Woodland Close, St Austell pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a woman occasioning her actual bodily harm at Rose Hill, Lostwithiel in December 2022 and to assaulting her in St Austell in July 2022. The prosecution offered no evidence on charges of strangling her in St Austell in July 2022 and Lostwithiel in December 2022 and damaging her car which he had denied. He was given a 15-month prison sentence, suspended for 24 months and was made subject to a restraining order not to go to an address in Carluddon, St Austell or contact his victim.

LUKE HAWKEN, 42, of Market Street, St Austell pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a man at Poundland in Camborne on 12 December and damaging his glasses and Smart watch. The case was adjourned until 10 February and he was released on conditional bail.

KWADWO OKOFO-BOAMPONG, 34, of Carpenter Court, Bodmin has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with, at Carpenter Court on 2 January, assaulting and strangling a woman. His case was listed for 18 February and he was remanded in custody.

TANUJA WIGNESWARAN, 51, of Tanyas at Fourwinds, Bodmin was arrested for breaching her bail conditions prohibiting her from entering a flat at Penlan Garage on the A30. She is only allowed to enter Penlan Garage for work purposes. She is facing charges of assaulting a man at Penlan Garage last July. The case was adjourned until 23 January.

SEX OFFENCES

CHRIS YOUNG, 42, of Poole Street, Bodmin pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to raping a girl under the age of 13, sexually assaulting her and inciting her to engage in sexual activity at Liskeard between 2016 and 2017. He was released on conditional bail and the case adjourned until 30 May.

JAKE ORMEROD, 33, of The Cardinal’s Hatt, Saltash pleaded guilty to failing to comply with notification requirements of the Sex Offenders’ Register and was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs. He is also charged with breaching a sexual offences prevention order made by Exeter Crown Court in 2011 by communicating with a child under 16 years without the supervising parent being aware of his sexual offending history. This case was adjourned until 16 June.

KNIFE CRIME

JEMMA THOMAS, 40, of Higher Bore Street, Bodmin admitted breaching a suspended sentence order and now has to serve the 12-week prison sentence imposed for possessing a lockable knife and diamorphine on Love Lane, Bodmin on 13 October 2023.

FIREARMS OFFENCE

GLYNN HATCHER, 59, of East Taphouse pleaded guilty to making a false statement to procure a shotgun certificate at Lewannick in January 2022. He failed to disclose he had been cautioned by police in 2006 and 2007. He was fined £250 and ordered to pay a £100 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

GLENN BENNETT, 46, of Market Place, Camelford pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to possessing an imitation firearm, a spring-powered air soft pistol, at Market Place, Camelford in June 2023 intending that three women would believe unlawful violence would be used against them. He was released on conditional bail and is due to be sentenced on 13 February.

RESTRAINING ORDER

STEVEN EDMOND, 37, of Meadowsweet Close, Liskeard was successful in his application to have a restraining order made on 4 October 2024 discharged on the grounds his victim wishes to make contact with him.

NON-MOLESTATION ORDER BREACH

BRADLEY COLLINS, 35, of Kings Tamerton Road, Plymouth pleaded guilty to five breaches of a non-molestation order made by Truro Family Court last March. The breaches took place in Newquay. He was given a 15-month prison sentence, suspended for 24 months, ordered to do 150 hours unpaid work, made subject to a restraining order not to contact five people or enter an address in the Newquay area until January 2030. He has to pay a £187 victim surcharge.

DRUG DEALING

WILLIAM COUNTER, 27, of Rock Lane, Bodmin pleaded guilty to supplying cannabis in Bodmin between January and October 2024 and cocaine between July and October 2024 as well as possessing 41.2 grams of crack cocaine on 8 October, 2.44 grams of cannabis on 4 September at an address in Wallace Road and 11.7 grams of cannabis in October. He was sent to prison for two years, had £2900 cash forfeited and has to pay a £187 victim surcharge.

FRAUD

JOSIE TRESCOWTHICK, 32, of Barras Street, Liskeard was found not guilty of four cases of fraud and two of handling stolen goods. The cases concerned the alleged misuse of a debit card.

THEFT

ANDREW PAGE, 62, of Trekenning Road, St Columb failed to turn up to Truro Crown Court to be sentenced for theft. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

ARREST WARRANT

DAVID GEER, 37, of Gnome World Caravan Park, Indian Queens had a warrant for his arrest issued after he failed to comply with the unpaid work requirement of a community order.

DANIEL BLAKE, 44, of Berrycoombe Vale, Bodmin failed to comply with the supervision requirements imposed on his release from prison and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

BENEFIT CHARGE

AMY CAWLEY, 33, of Dunstan Close, St Dennis has been charged with, between December 2021 and March 2023 at Launceston, failing to notify the Department for Work and Pensions of a change in circumstances which would affect her entitlement to Carers Allowance namely she had paid employment and savings above the permitted maximum level. Her case was adjourned until 6 February for her to make a plea.

DRIVE WHILST DISQUALIFIED

JOHN INWOOD, 34, of Creakavose, St Stephen pleaded guilty to driving on the A392 at Lane, Newquay on 9 August whilst disqualified and to failing to stop when required by a police officer. He was sent to prison for 12 weeks given the nature of the offence and his record.

NO INSURANCE

LIYAH SCANTLEBURY, 21, of Boundary Walk, Bodmin had the case proved she had no insurance for a vehicle she was using in Bodmin in October 2023. She was fined £120 and ordered to pay a £48 victim surcharge and £90 costs. She was banned from driving for six months due to repeat offending.

SPEEDING

WAYNE PAFFEY, 52, of Trenance Place, St Austell pleaded guilty to speeding on Bodmin Road, St Austell last June. He was given a points disqualification of six months, fined £211 and ordered to pay a £84 victim surcharge and £90 costs.

TARA SUTTON, 49, of Penarwyn Road, St Blazey had the case proved she failed to tell police who was driving a Ford Galaxy on Tregolls Road, Truro on Boxing Day 2023 who was alleged to have been speeding. She will be sentenced on 16 July when magistrates will consider disqualification.

JORDAN RYAN, 30, of Wallace Road, Bodmin pleaded guilty to speeding on the A30 in July 2023. He will be sentenced on 16 July when magistrates will consider a driving ban.
