SEX OFFENCES
BEN CHAPMAN, 22, of Duporth Bay, St Austell pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to raping a woman in St Austell in April 2022. His trial was fixed for 29 April.
NELSON CROCKER, 26, of Penmare Terrace, Hayle pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to 27 sexual offences. They include raping a woman, a boy and a girl. The offences are alleged to have taken place in the St Austell and Torpoint areas. The case was adjourned until 6 January.
DAVID SMITH, 71, of Castle Street, Bodmin pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to possessing over 200 videos of indecent images of a child including the most serious category A and to making over 200 still and video images of children. He is due to be sentenced on 24 January.
STEVEN COOPER, 29, of Trewall Hill, Downderry pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to two charges of raping a woman in Torpoint. A trial has been fixed for 17 November.
ARSON
DAVID EVANS, 43, of Central Avenue, St Austell pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to arson after he set fire to a stolen vehicle in a field in the Luxulyan area in June. Evans, who was on a suspended sentence at the time of the arson, was sentenced to 20 months in prison.
KNIFE CRIME
DAMION CRAY, 34, of St Petrocs, Truro pleaded guilty to possessing a kitchen knife on North Quay Hill, Newquay on 7 September and to assaulting a police officer and damaging a police van at Royal Cornwall Hospital the same day. He was made subject to a community order and will have to participate in up to 30 days activities.
DRUG OFFENCES
NICHOLAS TURNER, 43, of Tregundy Road, Perranporth pleaded guilty to supplying cocaine and cannabis at Trevemper Road, Newquay between 1 January and 17 December 2024 and possessing a lock knife at Trevemper Road on 16 December. He was committed to Truro Crown Court for sentence on 16 January.
OBSTRUCT POLICE
MICHAELA PARSONS, 52, of Trekenning Holiday Park, Saint Columb pleaded guilty to obstructing police at Bodmin on 20 November, failing to co-operate with a drug test and driving a vehicle with no MOT or insurance. She had eight points put on her licence, was fined £200 and ordered to pay an £80 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
BREACH OF ORDER
BRADLEY COLLINS, 25, of Kings Tamerton Road, Plymouth pleaded guilty to breaching a non-molestation order at Newquay between 18 April and 10 May, on 15 May, between 21 and 24 May, on 24 September and on 11 October. His case was adjourned until 10 January.
MICHAEL RICHARDS, 47, of Treningle View, Bodmin pleaded guilty to breaching a criminal behaviour order by causing members of the public to fear for their safety by being drunk and abusive at Fore Street, Bodmin on 15 October. He was given a community order and put on a 12-week curfew to remain at his home from 4pm to 10am seven days a week and he has to pay £85 costs.
DRUG DRIVE
MATTHEW MILLER, 33, of Rope Walk, Duporth pleaded guilty to driving a Renault Traffic on Southbourne Road, St Austell on 19 February with 5.3 micrograms of cannabis per litre of blood exceeding the limit of two and to using the vehicle with no MOT. He was banned from driving for four years, fined £162 and ordered to pay a £65 victim surcharge and £500 costs.
SIMON WOOD, 39, of Roslyn Close, St Austell pleaded guilty to driving on Treffry Lane, Lanhydrock on 23 April with 800 micrograms of BZE per litre of blood exceeding the limit of 50 and 32 micrograms of cocaine exceeding the limit of ten. He was also convicted of driving on Priory Road car park in St Austell on 8 April with 480 micrograms of BZE per litre of blood and 29 micrograms of cocaine. He was banned from driving for 12 months, fined £240 and ordered to pay £85 costs.
DRIVING WITHOUT CARE
ANTHONY WOODMASON, 67, of College Green, St Austell has been banned from driving for six months for repeat offending after he pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention on Holmbush Road, St Austell on 31 January. He was fined £288 and ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge and £90 costs.
SPEEDING
WARREN DEAN, 58, of Appletree Lane, Carlyon Bay pleaded guilty to speeding in a van on the A30 at St Breward last December. He was banned from driving for six months due to repeat offending, fined £40 and ordered to pay a £16 victim surcharge and £90 costs.
GABRIELLE BROWN, 20, of Tregear Avenue, Bodmin has been banned from driving for 21 days after she pleaded guilty to speeding on the A30 at Victoria on 10 December 2023. She was fined £369 and ordered to pay a £148 victim surcharge and £200 costs.
LUKE SILVER, 35, of The Brook, Saltash pleaded guilty to speeding on Old Laira Road, Plymouth on 2 and 10 February. He was banned from driving for six months due to repeat offending, fined £266 and ordered to pay a £106 victim surcharge and £90 costs.
