RAPE
DANIEL THOMAS, 31, of Thornton Close, Roche has been sentenced to six years in prison, put on the sex offenders register for life and will be made subject to a restraining order not to contact his victim after he was found guilty by a jury at Truro Crown Court of attempted rape and sexual assault.
ARSON
SHAUN MCCORMICK, 54, of NFA, Newquay has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered when he is alleged to have destroyed a caravan by fire at St Erme on 29 December, intimidated a witness on 28 December, sent messages threatening to rape and harm a woman on 27 December, damaged a caravan, a Renault van and a BMW on 30 November, assaulted a woman occasioning her actual bodily harm on 28 November and between September and October and May and June intentionally strangled her. He was remanded in custody and the case adjourned until 28 January.
ASSAULT
DESIRE CASSAMBO, 57, of Sandy Lodge Hotel, Newquay pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer in Truro on 27 December. He was sent to prison for six weeks and ordered to pay £100 compensation.
STALKING
JONATHAN BATES, 54, of RAF St Mawgan has been sent to prison for five years after pleading guilty at Truro Crown Court to four counts of stalking involving serious alarm or distress between 2017 and 2022 and to disclosing or threatening to disclose private sexual photos and films with intent to cause distress to one of his victims. He was made subject to a ten-year restraining order.
CHRISTOPHER MAYBANK, 38, of Truro Road, St Austell was remanded in custody after he breached his bail conditions on 30 December by contacting a woman he was banned from contacting when he was released on bail on a charge of stalking a woman involving fear of violence between 9 and 29 December at an address in Redruth. His case was adjourned.
HARASSMENT
ROBERT TAMBLYN, 65, of Gotch Gardens, East Taphouse pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order on 16 December by posting a Facebook comment naming, asking a question and sharing personal details of a woman he was prohibited from doing by a Truro Crown Court order made on 22 March. His case was adjourned.
THREATENING BEHAVIOUR
JONATHAN TILLEY, 30, of Fairfield, St Germans pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour towards two men at Dean Street, Liskeard on 27 December. He was remanded in custody and his case adjourned.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
WAYNE ELPHICK, 38, of NFA was made subject to a 28-day domestic violence protection notice on 29 December not to contact or threaten a woman or go to an address in Fowey.
JAMES TUCKER, 25, of Rhind Street, Bodmin was made subject to a 28-day domestic violence protection notice on 30 December not to contact or threaten a woman or go to an address in Bodmin.
NO INSURANCE
JOHNNY ADAMS, 66, of West Park, St Columb Major pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle in St Austell with no insurance, licence or MOT. He was banned from driving for 12 months due to repeat offending, fined £120 and ordered to pay a £48 victim surcharge.
