An ongoing police incident has forced a stretch of the A30 near Redruth to be closed in both directions this morning (Friday, January 10).
The roads between the A3047 near Pool and A3047 near Redruth are shut as well as the New Portreath Road which runs below the A30 viaduct.
A police spokesperson said: “We are currently dealing with a serious incident in the Illogan area of Cornwall. There is no risk to public safety and we will provide further updates as soon as we are able to.
“The incident has resulted in the closure of the eastbound carriageway of the A30. We ask motorists to avoid this area. Our enquiries are ongoing.”
Drivers are being diverted away via the A3047 in both directions while police officers attend the scene, it is not yet clear when the road will be reopened.
Motorists have been warned to expect traffic disruption and are encouraged to allow more time for their journeys if they are planning to travel near the area where the road closure is in place.
