ASSAULT

SOPHIE JASPER, 23, of NFA, St Austell pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer on East Hill, St Austell on 2 March and to possessing cannabis. Her case was adjourned until 24 April.

DARREN PRATT, 48, of Lanchard Rise, Liskeard has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on a man in Liskeard in September 2023. His case is listed for 11 April.

OFFENSIVE WEAPON

LIAM SCRIVENER, 29, of NFA, Newquay pleaded guilty to threatening a woman at an address in Newquay on 14 March with a telescopic truncheon. He was remanded in custody and his case adjourned until 8 April.

HAYDEN TINSLEY, 21, of Dungarth Street, Liskeard pleaded guilty to possessing a kitchen knife on Dean Street, Liskeard on 18 March and to eight shoplifting offences from shops in Liskeard in February and March. His case was adjourned until 16 May.

HARASSMENT

SOPHIE SCOLES, 28, of Sandy Lodge Hotel, Newquay pleaded guilty to racially aggravated harassment towards a man and causing a disturbance at Derriford Hospital refusing to leave the premises when asked to by a NHS staff member last October. She was made subject to a community order and must do up to 20 days activities, pay £100 compensation and a £40 fine.

JAMIE COON, 32, of High Cross Street, St Austell changed a not guilty plea to guilty on a charge of breaching a restraining order by approaching a woman in St Austell between 31 December and 9 January. He was remanded in custody and the case adjourned until 31 March.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

STUART DOWD, 33, of NFA was made subject to a 28-day domestic violence protection order on 18 March not to contact or threaten a woman or go to an address in St Austell.

JAKE MARSHALL, 32, of NFA, admitted breaching a domestic violence protection order at an address in St Austell on 18 March when he was located in the company of a woman at her home whom he was banned from contacting. He was sent to prison for 20 days because of his ‘utter disregard for the court order’.

PETER WALKER, 43, of Kinsman Estate, Bodmin admitted breaching a domestic violence protection order at Furze Hill, Bodmin on 17 March by being found in the company of a woman he was banned from contacting. He was fined £50.

JOHN STIFF, 34, of NFA, was made subject to a domestic violence protection order on 19 March not to threaten or contact a woman or go to an address in Liskeard.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

ZAK GLANVILLE, 22, of NFA, Newquay pleaded guilty to damaging roof tiles at a property in Treswithian Park Road, Treswithian and damaging the aerial and paintwork of a Toyota Cruiser on 14 March. He was fined £160 and ordered to pay £85 costs.

ROSS PALMER, 46, of Cosgarne, Truro Road, St Austell has had a warrant for his arrest issued after he failed to turn up to court to face a charge of damaging a car in St Austell last April.

EMMA MORCOM, 51, of High Street, St Austell pleaded not guilty to damaging a Fiat Ducato motor caravan at St Austell last July. She will stand trial on 29 August.

POSSESSED NOXIOUS LIQUID

MICHAEL BARBER, 38, of Hillside Park, Bodmin pleaded guilty to possessing noxious liquid, namely IM Power self-defence spray and a police style extendable baton at his Bodmin home on 21 December. The items were confiscated and he was given a three-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £26 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

BIKE THIEF

CLAUDIO AQUILINO, 57, of Sandy Lodge Hotel, Newquay pleaded guilty to taking an AC Hero 125 from St Ives on 2 February, to driving it without a licence or insurance and with 41 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. He was banned from driving for 36 months, which will be reduced by 36 weeks if he completes a course, made subject to a community order and will have to pay £500 compensation.

THEFT

KAI BOWERING, 43, of Oxley Vale, Newquay pleaded guilty to committing fraud by using a stolen bank card at Tesco Express in Pentewan Road, St Austell and at Applegreen Services in Penwinnick Road, St Austell on 2 March; to stealing items from Spar in Tower Road, Newquay on 12 February; to stealing Lego and cleaning pods from B&M in St Austell on 15 March and to driving a car in Wadebridge without a licence or insurance on 15 March. He was remanded in custody and his case adjourned until 8 April.

KEVIN ROWE, 36, of Badger Watch, Trewoon and Trenance Road, Newquay pleaded guilty to stealing five bottles of wine from Morrisons in Hayle on New Year’s Eve. He is already on bail for failing to comply with notification requirements of the sex offenders’ register, for damaging a window at the Regal Hotel in Camborne on 25 November and assaulting a woman at the hotel on 18 and 24 November. The case was adjourned until 16 June.

OUTRAGED PUBLIC DECENCY

WAYNE EELLS, 50, of Higher Bore Street, Bodmin pleaded guilty to outraging public decency in Bodmin last July by masturbating in public. He was fined £846 and ordered to pay a £338 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

DRIVE WHILST DISQUALIFIED

DAVID SMITH, 36, of Tower Road, Newquay pleaded guilty to driving at St Newlyn East in September whilst disqualified and with 5.7 micrograms of cannabis per litre of blood exceeding the limit of two. The case was adjourned until 25 April.

DRINK/DRUG DRIVE

STEFAN SEMIRAS, 48, of Porth Bean Road, Newquay pleaded guilty to driving on Quintrell Road, Newquay on 8 December with 8.1 micrograms of cannabis per litre of blood exceeding the limit of two. He was banned from driving for 12 months, fined £288 and ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

PAULINE TOKARSKA, 45, of Vacation Lodge, Berry Road, Newquay had a warrant issued for her arrest after she failed to turn up to court to be sentenced for driving a car on the Queen’s Hotel car park in Penzance last October with 127 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35.

KELLY DELANEY, 40, of Lower Barn Court, Priory Road, Newquay pleaded guilty to driving on Henver Road, Newquay on 23 February with 76 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. She was banned from driving for 20 months which will be reduced by 20 weeks if she completes a course, fined £120 and ordered to pay a £48 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

RED LIGHT OFFENCE

CHRISTOPHER SPRING, 43, of Kilbirnie Hotel, Newquay pleaded guilty to driving through a red light on Berry Road, Newquay last March. He was fined £100 and had three points put on his licence.

SEX OFFENCES

SCOTT MELNICK, 36, of Fore Street, St Dennis pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to ten sexual offences including four rapes of a girl aged under 15 and exposing his genitals intending someone to see them in St Austell. His trial was fixed for 23 February 2026 and he was released on conditional bail not to contact his alleged victim.

BENJAMIN FROST, 37, of Tregeagle Road, Roche appeared at Truro Crown Court charged with six offences of breaching a sexual harm prevention order. They included installing encryption on his device and failing to tell police about a cloud account capable of storing digital media which he pleaded guilty to. He had already pleaded guilty to making 12 indecent photographs of a child in the most serious Category A. He was remanded in custody and will be back in court on 27 March.

STEVEN VALENTINE, 48, of Trevarthian Road, St Austell pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to attempting to incite a 13-year-old girl to touch his genitals and to engage in sexual activity, sending sexual messages to a child on CHATIW.UK and WhatsApp and to making indecent photographs of children including the most serious category A. The offences took place in Launceston. He will be sentenced on 24 April.

MALCOLM DIXON, 55, of Portland Close, Liskeard pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to eight sexual offences including four rapes of two girls aged under 16. His trial was fixed for 7 April 2026 and he was released on conditional bail not to contact any prosecution witnesses.

ROBBERY

JAMES BENDELL, 39, of Minorca Lane, Bugle pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to robbing a man of his mobile phone, keys and kitchen knives and stealing a bike at Minorca Lane last June .He was remanded in custody, to hospital, and his next hearing will be on 2 June.

ASSAULT

ALISON KIRKBY, 44, of The Escape, Mount Wise, Newquay changed her plea to guilty at Truro Crown Court on a charge of strangling a woman in Launceston in September 2023. A not guilty plea of assault by beating will remain on file. She was given a 16-month custodial sentence suspended for 24 months. She was also put on a five-month curfew to remain in her room at The Escape between 7pm and 7am until 21 August.

RAMAZON UTKU, 30, of Golf Terrace, Newquay pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to burgling a dwelling and inflicting grievous bodily harm on a man at Trelavour Road, St Dennis, to assaulting a man in St Dennis and assaulting two police officers at Newquay custody centre on 7 October. He was remanded in custody and his next hearing will be on 7 April.

STEVEN LEWIS, 36, of Crown Mine, St Dennis pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting three police officers in Truro in September 2023. The case was adjourned until 7 October.

STEVEN SMITH, 42, of Milton Brow, Weston-Super-Mare pleaded guilty to eleven offences he committed on 6 December when he appeared at Truro Crown Court. They included assaulting a man and stealing Lego at Sports Direct, assaulting a woman and stealing clothing from Poundland in St Austell, aggravated vehicle taking which injured two people in Mevagissey and assaulting a police officer in Mevagissey. He was given an 18-month custodial sentence and a driving ban.

SAM COOK, 45, of Eastern Avenue, Liskeard pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a woman at Pensilva on 28 January. He was given a one month prison sentence – as he had been remanded in custody he had already served the time and was released. Cook had pleaded not guilty to occasioning her actual bodily harm and to strangling her and these cases were discharged.

RORY LAKE, 37, of Moorland Road, Launceston pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a police officer and possessing a hunting knife on Western Road, Launceston on 10 February. He was remanded in custody and his trial fixed for 12 August.

MICHELLE WYETH, 41, of Binhamy Close, Bude was found not guilty at Truro Crown Court of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent on a man at Station Road, Perranporth in July 2023. She pleaded guilty to wounding him without intent and will be sentenced on 11 April.

HARRASSMENT

KYRAN CROWHURST, 33, of Sunnyside Meadow, Camelford pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to breaching a restraining order at Bodmin in September when he was in the company of a woman he was prohibited from contacting. He was given a 10-month custodial sentence. Crowhurst pleaded not guilty to assaulting the woman occasioning her actual bodily harm and strangling her on 5 September and threatening her with a kitchen knife and assaulting her occasioning actual bodily harm on 6 September. These cases were discharged.

KNIFE CRIME

ANDREW MURPHY, 18 of The Queens Head, St Austell has been given a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and ordered to do 150 hours community service at Truro Crown Court after he was convicted of using or threatening unlawful violence towards another, jointly with Harvey Yeates, and possessing a kitchen knife on Old Vicarage Place, St Austell on 1 July.

HARVEY YEATES, 19, of Lezera, Porkellis pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to using or threatening unlawful violence towards a man in St Austell on 1 July, guilty to possessing a lock knife in the grounds of the British Legion in St Austell on 1 July and guilty to possessing a quantity of cannabis. He was sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered to have 12 months mental health treatment and do 100 hours unpaid work.

DRUG DEALERS

MARK TURNER, 35, of Pendragon Country Cottages, Vicarage Hill, Davidstow has been remanded in custody at Truro Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to, between April and October 2024 at Camelford, he was concerned in the supplying of cannabis. He pleaded not guilty to supplying cocaine and amphetamine – these charges will remain on file. His next court date is 2 April.

JAKE STOCKBRIDGE, 34, of Treclago View, Camelford pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to, between April and October 2024 at Camelford, he was concerned in the supplying of cocaine, cannabis and amphetamine and he imported cannabis. He was remanded in custody until his next court date on 2 April.

THEFT

ANDREW PAGE, 62, of Trekenning Road, St Columb pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to stealing £32 worth of alcohol from Junction Spar in Truro last June. He was sent to prison for six months as he activated a suspended sentence.

CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY

FINAN ARCHBOLD, 24, of Batsons Court, Griffydam pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to causing serious injury to three men and two women by driving a Mazda MX5 without due care and attention on the B3263 at Treven, Tintagel on 27 August 2023. He was given a ten-month prison sentence, suspended for 24 months, and a five-month curfew to remain at his home between 7pm and 7am daily until 19 August and has to do 200 hours unpaid work. He was banned from driving for 18 months and will have to pass an extended test to get his licence back.
