THREATENED POLICE COMMISSIONER
PAUL MARIE-HUGHES, 53, of Notter Farm Bungalow, Notter has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with, on 22 June, sending a message to the Police and Crime Commissioner conditionally threatening to burn her alive in her office. His case will be heard on 28 March. He has also pleaded not guilty to assaulting a woman in Notter on 28 August. This case was due to be heard in Bodmin Magistrates’ Court on 21 February but he failed to turn up and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
SEX OFFENCES
VIOREL MANAFU, 39, of Rocks Farm, Bugle has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with raping a woman in St Austell on 4 December 2022. His case is listed for 28 March.
WILLIAM LONG, 21, of NFA, St Austell has been sent to prison for three years by a judge at Truro Crown Court after he was found guilty of raping and sexually assaulting a woman in June 2021.
DARREN KNOWLES, 46, of Penhale Road, Penwithick pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to two charges of sexually assaulting a woman in the St Blazey area in February 2024. His trial is fixed for 19 November.
STEVEN VALENTINE, 48, of Trevarthian Road, St Austell has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with seven sex offences. They include attempting to engage in sexual communications with a girl aged under 16 via CHATIW.UK and WhatsApp, inciting a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity and making indecent photographs of children including the most serious category A. The offences are alleged to have taken place in Launceston in 2021. His case is listed for 21 March.
MARK OVERSBY, 34, of NFA, St Austell had two charges of raping a woman in Wadebridge last November discharged by a judge at Truro Crown Court after the prosecution offered no evidence.
JAYDON CRADDOCK, 22, of Rose Hill, St Blazey has been found not guilty at Truro Crown Court of two of the three sexual assaults he had been charged with. He now faces one charge of, in November 2022 at St Austell, he intentionally touched a woman without her consent. This case was adjourned for the Crown to consider whether there should be a re-trial.
ASSAULT
BRIANNA DE LUCA BOSSA, 25, of Edgecombe Avenue, Newquay pleaded guilty to assaulting a psychiatrist at Derriford Hospital on 13 August. She was given a 14-week prison sentence suspended for 18 months and ordered to have mental health treatment and has to pay the doctor £500 compensation.
PAUL TIMMINS, 43, of Bay View Terrace, Newquay pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to strangling a woman at Nansledan on 26 February, assaulting her on 9 January and, in November 2024, damaging her television. His trial will be on 8 September.
DWAYNE TAYLOR, 40, of Fairview Terrace, Newquay pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a man in Newquay in September 2022 causing grievous bodily harm and possessing a Stanley knife on Central Square, Newquay. His trial is listed for 19 November.
JOWAN FARGHALY, 34, of Grenville Close, Nanpean has been charged with assaulting a woman at Eden Close, Par occasioning her actual bodily harm and damaging property inside the house on 16 February. His case was adjourned until 13 March.
JAKE WILLS, 19, of New Molinnis, Bugle has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with that between 22 and 23 July 2023, jointly with LUCAS UNDERWOOD, SIMON SLATER AND OWEN NICOL, he entered an address in Wallace Road, Bodmin as a trespasser with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm on a person. His case is listed for 28 March.
JAKE PRAZSKY, 35, of Chapel Hill, Porthtowan pleaded guilty to assaulting a man in North Street, St Austell on 17 January and driving on Priory Road car park with 83 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. Sentence was adjourned until 1 September to tie up with other cases.
PAUL PAJOR, 52, of Cuddra Road, St Austell pleaded not guilty to assaulting three men and using threatening behaviour on Daniels Lane, St Austell on 31 August. His case was adjourned until 1 August.
DAVID MICHAEL, 34, of Alexandra Road, St Austell has pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to engaging in coercive behaviour by preventing his victim from contacting friends and family and contacting her friends and family making false allegations causing the relationships to break down and preventing her from taking prescribed medication; not guilty to assaulting her on 8 and 10 January; not guilty to damaging her property and not guilty to stealing a prescription drug from her on 10 January. He was remanded in custody and the case adjourned until 2 June.
TRACEY FALVEY, 57, of Polgrean Place, St Blazey has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with assaulting a woman and a police officer at Polgrean Place on Christmas Day. Her case is listed for 28 March.
KWADWO OKOFO-BOAMPONG, 35, of Carpenter Court, Bodmin has appeared at Truro Crown Court charged with assaulting and strangling a woman in Bodmin on 2 January. He was remanded in custody and his case adjourned until 23 May.
STEPHEN SULLIVAN, 46, of Barn Street, Liskeard pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm on a man without intent in Liskeard on 9 September 2023. He was given an 18-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. Magistrates noted the offence was so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified because it was a violent assault aggravated by alcohol leading to serious injury. He was ordered to have mental health treatment, do 150 hours unpaid work and to pay his victim £1500 compensation.
STRANGULATION
THOMAS CARDER, 53, of Glencross Court, Liskeard who pleaded not guilty to strangling a man in Saltash in December 2022 has been acquitted by a judge at Truro Crown Court. He was made subject to a restraining order not to contact the man until 23 October 2028.
HARASSMENT
MAX TILLER, 37, of Moorland Road, St Austell changed a not guilty plea to guilty at Truro Crown Court on charges of breaching a restraining order by attending the home of a woman in Lanner in December 2023 and, between November 2023 and April 2024 at Lanner, he contacted the woman by being in her company, telephoning and emailing her, sending text messages, posting on Facebook and the Buy and Sell St Austell area Facebook page which he was prohibited from doing by an order imposed in February 2023. He will be sentenced on 20 March.
JAMIE COON, 32, of High Cross, St Austell pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order imposed by magistrates in October by, between 31 December and 9 January at St Austell, making contact with a woman by texting and calling her and then approaching her and speaking to her which he was prohibited from doing. He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on 17 March.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
TREVOR SALLOWS, 65, of NFA, was made subject to a 28-day domestic violence protection notice on 25 February not to contact or threaten a woman or go to an address in St Newlyn East near Newquay.
KAYA PARKER, 32, c/o The Vineyard, Stithians admitted breaching a domestic violence protection order made by magistrates on 15 February by, on 20 February at The Cardinals Hatt, Saltash being in direct contact with the protected person. She was fined £50.
DRUG DEALING
MYLES HARRISON, 37, of Beech Road, St Austell and JADE MURPHY, 30, of Polgover Way, Par have been sent to Truro Crown Court jointly charged with supplying cocaine, ecstasy and cannabis in St Austell between October 2022 and April 2023. Harrison is also charged with possessing a knife with a locking blade on Polgover Way, Par on 18 April 2023. Their case is listed for 23 March.
THREATENING BEHAVIOUR
LOREN GLEN, 59, of Lerryn View, Lerryn changed a not guilty plea to guilty on a charge of using threatening behaviour on 20 August. He has pleaded not guilty to driving on Lerryn View with seven micrograms of cannabis per litre of blood exceeding the limit of two. The case was adjourned until 18 July.
DANGEROUS DOG
CARLOS PLANT, 44, of NFA, St Austell has had a warrant issued for his arrest after he failed to turn up to Truro Crown Court to face a charge of being the owner of/in charge of a XL Bully which was dangerously out of control in St Blazey in November 2022 when it injured a woman in her home.
THEFT
KATE MESLEY, 37, of NFA, Newquay pleaded guilty to stealing £60 worth of jewellery from Ann’s Cottage in Falmouth. She was ordered to pay £60 compensation and £85 costs.
MICHELLE PARKYN, 44, of NFA, St Austell has been sent to prison for six months by a judge at Truro Crown Court after she pleaded guilty to six charges of stealing from shops in St Austell and Newquay.
RICKY BARNES, 35, of Doubletrees, St Blazey has been sent to Truro Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to stealing two bottles of spirits from the Co-op in Middleway and, at the same, he breached a criminal behaviour order by failing to leave the shop immediately when asked to do so by a staff member. He will be sentenced on 21 March.
INTENT TO DAMAGE
ROBERT PAYNE, 47, of Old Market Place, Bodmin who had been charged with having a screwdriver at Old Market Place in February 2024 with intent to damage three cars had the case discontinued at Truro Crown Court.
BREACH OF ORDER
KIMBERLEY BECKETT, 42, of Little Meadow, Bodmin has been sent to prison for eight weeks because of her ‘wilful and persistent’ failure to comply with the requirements of a community order made when she was convicted of shoplifting. Magistrates said she had buried her head in the sand and evaded services designed to assist her. She is also charged with failing to notify the Department for Work and Pensions of a change of circumstances which affected her entitlement to Universal Credit namely that her three children no longer lived with her. This case was adjourned until 11 March when she will appear via a video link from HMP Eastwood Park.
BROKE BAIL CONDITION
JOSH COOPER, 33, of Trevarthian Road, St Austell who had pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman at High Cross Street, St Austell on 23 January admitted breaching his bail condition by being in Truro in the company of the woman he assaulted. He was remanded in custody.
CURFEW REQUEST
HARRY TRUDGEON, 20, of Queens Drive, St Columb had his request to remove the curfew requirement of his community order because he is about to enter full time employment turned down by magistrates.
DROVE WITHOUT CARE
PHILIP GILSON-SMITH, 46, of Penvose Farm Holiday Park pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Fiesta without due care and attention on the A3075 at Newquay on 2 June last year and to having a faulty tyre on the car. He was fined £480, had nine points put on his licence and was ordered to pay a £192 victim surcharge and £350 costs.
DRIVE WHILST DISQUALIFIED
STEVEN WRIGHT, 41, of Treverbyn Road, St Austell pleaded guilty to driving on Slades Road, St Austell whilst disqualified on 30 December and to using the vehicle without insurance. He was made subject to a community order and must do 100 hours unpaid work, was banned from driving for two years and ordered to pay £85 costs.
DRUG/DRINK DRIVE
ALFIE GREEN, 22, of The Grey House, Mount Wise, Newquay pleaded guilty to driving on Ulalia Road, Newquay on 23 October with 4.4 micrograms of cannabis per litre of blood exceeding the limit of two, driving on Mount Wise on 25 October with 4.8 micrograms of cannabis per litre of blood and possessing 2.4g of cannabis at Newquay on 17 January. He was made subject to a community order and will have to do 140 hours unpaid work, was banned from driving for 18 months and ordered to pay £85 costs.
JONATHAN MAYNARD, 45, of Trebarber, Newquay pleaded guilty to driving a VW Transporter on St Georges Road, Newquay on 5 February with 99 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. He was given a community order and must have treatment for his alcohol use and do 100 hours unpaid work. He was banned from driving for two years which will be reduced by 24 weeks if he completes a course and ordered to pay a £114 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
KAREN HUDSON, 35, of Pentire Green, Crantock pleaded guilty to driving on East Road, Quintrell Downs on 8 October with seven micrograms of cannabis per litre of blood exceeding the limit of two. She will be sentenced on 4 July when magistrates will consider if there are special reasons for not ordering an endorsement or disqualification.
ATHENA WILLCOX, 26, of Trezaise Close, Roche pleaded guilty to riding a motorbike in Newquay last August with 4.1 micrograms of cannabis per litre of blood exceeding the limit of two, to riding a bike with a defective brake and tyre involving a danger of injury and without a licence. She was banned from driving for 14 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay a £48 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
SERGIO DOS SANTOS MOREIRA, 45, of Netley Meadow, Bugle pleaded guilty to failing to provide police with a specimen of breath for analysis at Netley Meadow whilst being investigated for an offence. He was given an interim driving ban and will be sentenced on 11 April.
KAYLEIGH JULIAN, 36, of Woodland Road, St Austell pleaded guilty to driving at McDonald’s in Kingsley Village on 3 February with 79 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. She was banned from driving for 18 months which will be reduced by 18 weeks if she completes a course, fined £120 and ordered to pay a £48 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
AIDEN STEPHENS, 24, of Trenance Place, St Austell pleaded guilty to driving on Trenance Road, St Austell on 25 November with 5.1 micrograms of cannabis in a litre of blood exceeding the limit of two. He was banned from driving for 14 months, fined £350 and ordered to pay £140 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
KATHERINE DUNN, 46, of Burden Close, Bodmin pleaded guilty to driving through Washaway in November 2024 with 92 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35 and to driving without a licence. She was made subject to a community order and must do 100 hours unpaid work, was banned from driving for two years which will be reduced by 24 weeks if she completes a course and ordered to pay a £114 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
CLINT HUGHES, 44, of Honey Street, Bodmin pleaded guilty to driving in Newquay in April 2024 with 16 micrograms of cocaine per litre of blood exceeding the limit of ten. He was made subject to a community order, fined £80, banned from driving for 18 months and ordered to pay £114 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
MATTHEW OHARA, 54, of Blakes Park, Liskeard pleaded guilty to driving on Callington Road, Liskeard on 17 June with 596 micrograms of Diazepam per litre of blood exceeding the limit of 550. He was banned from driving for 48 months, fined £320 and ordered to pay £128 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
DYLAN CHAPMAN, 21, of Prouse Rise, Saltash pleaded not guilty to being in charge of a car at Jubilee Green car park in Saltash in November 2023 with 48 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35 but pleaded guilty to using the car without insurance. The case was adjourned until 1 August.
SPEEDING
JEREMY CLARK, 61, of Pochin Drive, St Austell has been banned from driving for six months after he pleaded guilty to speeding at 40mph through Longdowns Village last August. As well as the totting ban he was fined £192 and ordered to pay a £77 victim surcharge and £90 costs.
UNFAIR TRADING
ANDREW FOSTER, 61, of St Kew Highway, Bodmin has been sent to Truro Crown Court for trial after he pleaded not guilty to, between October 2022 and June 2024, being a trader who knowingly or recklessly engaged in a commercial practice which contravened the requirements of professional diligence under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations. This is said to have materially distorted, or was likely to materially distort, the economic behaviour of the average consumer with regard to a product namely in that, as Contracts and Health and Safety Manager for Unique Property Management, he failed to perform services with the level of professional diligence commensurate with his trade. Also facing charges is EVETTE HENSON, 39 and ROSS HENSON, 38, who are currently living in Nottingham. Evette is charged with, between October 2022 and June 2023, knowingly being a party to the carrying on of a business with the intention of defrauding creditors by failing to carry out agreed works and return money paid for such works, failing to carry out work with reasonable skill/care in contravention of the requirements of professional diligence and to rectify sub-standard works. Ross is charged with similar offences including intending to defraud creditors by failing to carry out agreed works and return money paid for such works. Their cases will be heard in Crown Court on 28 March.
