NEWQUAY Town Council has approved grants totalling £2,500.

The environment and facilities committee voted to give £1,750 to Newquay Hockey Club and £750 to the Feel Safe scheme, which offers security devices to support people who feel vulnerable in their homes.

Mayor Cllr Drew Creek said: “The grant to Newquay Hockey Club will further develop its youth offering with training and equipment. Grass roots sports are really under attack from multiple sides so anything we can do for our community sports teams is important.

“Feel Safe helps the elderly and domestic abuse victims. A very worthy cause and the grant will have a huge impact.”
